What Arctic Silver should I get

1.5g is enough for about... 7-12 computers, depending on how wasteful (or stupid, in my case) you are.
 
and u rarely have to reapply the paste to the same computer unless u remove the heatsink from the cpu right?

But I don't replace the paste unless if I need to remove the heatsink for the CPU (new CPU :)).

AC5 is known to degrade over a really, really long period of time, but it's typically about when you should be looking at an upgrade, anyways.
 
They are about that price (lower, actually :D) at Fry's, do you have one nearby?

EDIT: ?? The 1.5g one has more then enough for 2 computers. I still haven't run out of my first stick, yet. 5 builds, so far, and 2 CPU upgrades.
 
There are better compounds out there, however it still does a great job and I keep one of the big tubes around. That tube is 2.5g, for 5 bucks plus newegg shipping costs, wile you can get this 22g tube for 7.99 and prob never need to buy more ever again. And yes, that is 22g, get allot more for your money.
 
yea but i dun want to use just 1 g and let the rest 21 g sit there and rot.
 
TIM pretty much never goes "bad", use it on everything like me, NB and other mobo parts etc etc...I take everything apart, if it has a HS on it....the TIM has been changed. :D

Is it also not better to have some and n.....You know the saying.
 
According to many reviews, Arctic Cooling MX-3 is better than Arctic Silver 5 and doesn't degrade. But then again, the differences between most thermal compounds are negligible (+- 1-2 degrees).
 
While Arctic Silver 5 isn't the best anymore, it still performs damn well. Look at [H]'s own TIM roundup to see for yourself. As far as letting it sit for a while, I've had a tube for a few years now, and as long as you store it in a place that is room-temp(no garage/shed) it'll stay good. Go for the 22g tube. You'll be set for a long ass time.
