Weird Stalker shadow bug

Whenever I play Stalker, I get these really annoying shadows at the edge of my screen (as seen on the bottom right corner in my screenshots). I have absolutely no idea what causes this, and they go away as soon as I rotate my mouse.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I have an ATI 4850 with Catalyst 9.6, if that's of any relevance.

After rotating my mouse slightly, they go away:

Try this:

1) Go to the directory containing your savegame folder and screenshots.

2)There, you will see a file named "user.ltx".

3) open this in notepad NOT wordpad.

4) scroll until you see a line that says "r2_sun_near_border 0.75".

5) Change the "0.75" to a "1"

This shadow bug occurs sometimes when using a widescreen resolution. I am somewhat positive that this extends the shadows displayed.
