Weird Problem

Ok so every so often I will boot my pc to find that the system folder is missing and it can't boot properly. When I try to install Vista or 7 they take forever (hours) before telling me that they couldn't find CD or DVD drivers. If I try to install XP it works but then every so often (few weeks to a couple months) this same problem happens again.

The hard drive is brand new and the same problem happened on the old drive. I have tried different SATA cables. I have tried different SATA ports. I have tried a different burner (IDE and SATA). I am thinking motherboard. Oh, ALL components have passed PC Doctor tests.

Any ideas ?
 
The corruption or removal of data is usually related to a faulty storage controller, RAM, or virus. So it could be your mobo.

That was my thinking to. Last night I purchased a new AM3 motherboard and DDR3 RAM. I thought AM2 CPUs worked on AM3 boards but was wrong, other way around. So tonight or tomorrow I have to go get me an AM3 CPU as well.
 
Well got the new CPU as well. All problems are gone so I'm happy. I settled with the X2 260 as a temporary processor because I spent the rest of my money paying bills. I hope to move up to a 6 core 1100T when I have the money.
