Weird Firefox occurence

Hi, I'm currently running Firefox version 2.0.0.16

Yes I know it's old, I haven't upgraded yet.

Anyway, I just booted up my computer to find all of my bookmarks and cookies in Firefox completely gone. It's as if this is my first time running Firefox ever. Any one know how this could have happened? Is there any way to possibly recover my lost bookmarks?

i dont know how to recover, but if you download an addon called foxmarks

it syncs all your bookmarks online so you can have them on any computer you use
 
Well yeah I fixed it.

Been running firefox for at least 3 years now, and its the first time this happened. Any one know why it actually happens?
