Hi,
*UPDATE*: I had my windows desktop set at 1920x1080x60hz, setting it to 120hz let's bf3 honor the 120hz setting in game (this was never an issue in bc2).
I have a 120hz monitor, and just like in bc2 I set my resolution in bf3 to 1920x1080x120hz. However, I noticed that bf3 doesn't respect this setting. i.e. after I'm in game if I bring up my monitors OSD it shows it at 60hz, similarly if I turn on vsync my frame rate goes down to 60.
So, I found if I goto video options, toggle the res to some other freq. then back to 120 and click 'save fullscreen resolution' that it will finally start outputing at 120hz, monitor's OSD confirms this.
Problem is two-fold: 8 out of 10 times (yes I've tried at least that many times
) BF3 locks up when I try to resave the resolution/freq. option. Secondly, if it doesn't lock up then after the game resumes my GPU1 and GPU3 (essentially the 2 masters) get shut off and contribute only a few percentage points every once in a while, the rest of the time they keep switching out of 3d mode (I can see their voltage/core clock drop to 2d settings on my g15 screen with afterburner). Before saving the 120hz res. all 4 gpu's will chug along at basically identical utilization rates.
Also, just fyi, when I would loose 2 gpu's I could get them back by alt-tabbing to windowed mode and then back to fullscreen.
It would be great if I could find an .ini file like bc2 had to hardcode the 120hz setting, that may avoid the whole 'option' video - crash bf3 scenario.
Any idea's on what's going on here?
here is a pic of it working, everything is ultra except AA is set to 2xMSAA. I'm pretty happy with the performance - ranges anywhere from 90~200 fps.
