I know Windows Experience Index ratings really dont mean shit, but I'm kinda curious as to why I only scored a 6.4 rating for my graphics with my ATI 6970. Any insight on why this number is so low? I remember in my old rig I had a 5770 and the numbers were the same

I'm thinking drivers too. My modded 6950's get 7.9. You did refresh the results right? They do not auto update when hardware changes.

Don't mind WEI, it most surely doesn't recognize the card in any proper way, or something, anything, running in the background "interfered" with the test.

Probably had a flash video on in the background or had some other hardware accelerated video playing. That will lock your clock speeds to 500/600 and could account for the lower than normal score.

Last I heard/checked, WEI didn't support CF or SLI during its 'test' it runs so.... a person with dual 6970s or triple versus single will score the same. That's probably bringing down your WEI from where it theoretically could be should either Microsoft care enough to ever add multi-gpu support. Funny thing is, an experienced computer user running a multi-gpu setup really doesn't need to be told that his pc is fairly fast.

Shouldn't matter if he has multi-gpu, my 6950 is topped out at 7.9 (single card) under WEI.

As other people suggested try closing all background windows and manuallly refreshing WEI to make sure hardware accel isn't locking your card to middling speeds.

I have 11.4 drivers, and also didnt have any video playing in the background. Last time I did a furmark benchmark the numbers seemed really low. Tomorrow I will do a benchmark with Furmark and also re run the WEI. any other benchmark for video I can use that will give a number rating so I can see where I stand

Thanks

Is that score your CPU score as well. I don't know how WEI calculates but it sure is not an average honestly just looks like it takes the lowest score to me. My lowest score is my CPU at 7.6 and everything else is higher but WEI makes my index total 7.6.

WEI always puts your total index at your lowest, it says so even.

And OP specifically says that it is his graphics... tbh i do find his score weird because my 6850 says 7.7, but on the other hand WEI is so meaningless that i would recommend him to not mind it.
