A seller called SX2233 sold me a 24in display about a month ago. It never arrived but was returned to the sender because the carrier damaged it. I asked for a refund as I will be on vacation these next weeks and I fully expected to receive it by now even with the difficulties. I opened the dispute on paypal. Did I do anything wrong?

What kind of information did you get on the seller before you made the sale. I see he only has 4 heat.

Personally, on a large purchase like that, if they have low heat I always get a phone number and their contact information

Other than that, i think you took the right steps.

Have you tried contacting him?

Well.. I've had great experiences until now on these forums. I tend to think that if they've been here for a year or so and no one has made a troll post on them, they're probably okay.

I have his name and his address from the shipper.

man, maybe he doesnt have warrantity on it or something, if its broken now? or you should contact him about the insurance?

then i would try to contact him personally asap.
maybe his address leads to a number,or his name in a phonebook, or maybe a nearby relative can check it out,etc..

Any links to the original sale thread.....I found this but I don't think that's it...that one is a 26"

dude logged in a couple hours ago.

You got scammed man if he didn't pm you or anything .

Shoot a PM to one of the admins on these forms. They will turn back on his PM's and send him a message asking him to talk to you. If he doesn't comply they will usualy end up banning the person in question.

Well.. he has conveniently blocked all PMs and is not responding to emails.

umm, I think it would be fair to say that this does not bode well. Whenever something negative happens in a trade, and the guy with the money or goods blocks one communication channel and ignores the other, I'd say he/she has already decided to scam.

I'd go all out on the fraud warpath: paypal disputes, fbi.gov, ftc.gov, local police departments, calling his personal number, notify an admin here, posting warning threads on other forums he trades at, leave a neg on heatware, call up UPS and get their fraud procedures, etc.

PM's can be turned back on, but the fact that he turned them off doesn't look good. Have you tried matching his name/address with a phone number on Zabasearch?

I turned his PMs and email notification back on. If he refuses to deal with you, then have no choice but to ban him.

I sent SX2233 a PM to reply to this thread once he logs back in. Hopefully he does and straightens everything out.

After Fedex failed to delivery him the first time, they took it back but fedEx damaged it in the proccess and it was returned to me, and he didn't request any shipping insurance, I'm going to leave this to paypal now and let them decide what to do.

Why couldn't you just say that in the 1st place, instead of ignoring all of his emails and pm's?

After seeing this thread and reading about what you did about ignoring him and turning off your pm's ill be sure to never buy off you.

Shouldn't he get the damaged product then if he didn't get insurance? You can't keep the damaged monitor and not give him his money back.

You're the seller. You are responsible for ensuring it arrives to him properly. It's YOUR liability. You should always get insurance as a seller if you value your money.

Actually if I sell an item on fleaBay, most of the time when people lay down their money, they always ask "is there insurance?" I hate to say it but what ur saying isn't true

I didn't ignore his emails, I just turned off pm cause I don't like flaming pms. I need to sell anything on forums anyways.

seeing as how I have -480 in my paypal, what the hell would u do?

and whos fault is that? You cant expect to keep the product AND his money, your attitude says your nothing but a scammer

You didn't sell it on fleabay you sold it here. Can we have a link to the thread please. I have heard of cheap trader here but you take the cake, how are you going to sell and Item as expensive as a lcd and not have it insured? I could understand if you stated in your thread that insurance is optional and if the buyer didn't take it. we need more information about the deal before we can judge you. A seller is only as good as his last trade. If you messed up man up. sometimes its better to eat the cost and save face than to be labeled a troll.
As for the thinkdifferent, how are you going to buy an Item from some one and you didn't even have a the sellers adress and name or even a phone #

Get more money and put it in there?

You don't like flaming PM's? What kind of bullsh1t excuse is that?

You don't need to sell anything on the forums anyways? Well you did, and you screwed up big time, thus screwing over the buyer for your stupid mistakes.

This isn't FLEABAY, and it is YOUR responsibilities to get the product into the customer hands safely once they gave you the money.

Don't go in here acting like none of this is your fault please, because it is, and turning off your PM's and ignoring emails is a troll job.

I'll let paypal decides who keeps the money.

Do you have definate factual prove to back up ur statement other than your trollish comments? Guess not, if you want to flame me do a better job.

the shipping carriers thrown the box around like a basket ball when I got it back, and now I get to take all the blame

if ur here to flame me aZn do a better job please, cause ur obviously sucking at it

So you think it's the buyer's fault? I think you'll need to eat the cost here. At least you could try and get $100 (default FedEx insurance) back from FedEx so it's not a total loss.

I never said it was his fault this happened.

If you do not have a verified tracking # showing delivered Paypal will find in favor ofthe buyer period. I sell more than 200 items a month on Ebay and I have sold a few things on here and on both places Paypal puts the burden of getting the item to your customer 100% on you. You are 100% at fault for not getting the package to him or insuring it. You sir are a scamming crook.

Its very simple. The seller is responsible for the item until the buyer takes possession of it and confirms that it works.

SX2233, even if you believe your not at fault. The whole "blocking PMs" and such sure makes you look bad. A good seller wouldn't do such a thing.

I dont understand why you are telling the people to flame you harder because its not working. I dont really see them flaming you just showing you what you really are and until the buyer gets his money back id have to say your a scammer/troll.

how was it packed? in original box inside another box? If it wasnt packed well, thats on you. You should expect your package is going to be thrown around a little. If it wasnt, we wouldnt need any packing materials at all.

Wow, just Wow....Please, just ban this dude now, because its obvious that he could care less about what happened....

PayPal will side with the seller unless you have proof of delivery...which you don't.

I have no doubt in my mind though, that you will keep your Paypal acct empty and open another one, screwing the buyer out of his money

Nobody with a half a brain, ships a ~$500.00 LCD with no insurance.....no matter who is paying for it...
This one is on you and the right thing to do is refund the mans money..100% and chalk this up as an expensive mistake on your part.

I do have tracking for this, and I posted it in paypal transaction, if the paypal judges are fair I think we both get 1/2 of the 480.

By ur logic the buyer only had half a brain when paying 500 for an LCD with out insurance right? I don't have to chalk this up because shipping companies like to play basket ball with packages.

If you were the mod in hardforum, it will be depopulated in several days ban ban ban

How on earth would that be fair...? How do you get to keep a product, get $240, and somebody else LOSES $480, then gets only $240 back, and absolutely no product for the remaining $240 he lost? I won't even start on the rest of the evidence that says you're a scammer, because everybody else already has. Even if things go your way completely and you get to keep your LCD and get $240 for "FedEx's mistake," I hope that $240 was an appropriately satisfying reward for never doing "business" (if you can call it that) with anybody here again. And trust me, you won't.

If you really think it should go half and half, the buyer should still get the damaged LCD, why do you still have it if you're attempting to keep some of the money? Post up pics of your packing job and the damaged LCD so we can see how this thing was shipped and the what the damage actually is.
