NOTICE: The Warhammer Online Test is currently under a strict Beta Test Agreement. The only permitted disclosures at this time are:

1) The fact that there is a Warhammer Online Beta Test currently underway.
2) The fact that you are a member of the Warhammer Online Beta Test.

Anyone else? :)

Lucky bastard :)

I'm starting to think I should have faked a guild webpage to put on my application so I could have gotten in months ago. Oh well...

Well if anyone gets in, send me a pm here, would be fun to play with some other skilled players =)

Replied to your PM :)

Also anyone else that gets in, make sure to use some kind of download management program as their server sucks and likes to not complete files , lots of posts about it so use one before you waste your time downloading.

This file is huge like 2gb and it is a slow site only 100 kb/sec will take another three hours to download......

Couple of questions if it is not breaking the NDA ?? Does this game have seperate factions like WoW has Alliance vs Horde ?? Is there a class simalar to a Paladin and can that be an Elf race ??

Warhammeronline.com

Theres the faction/race/class info there, all of it but the two darkelf and two highelf classes that haven't been released.

I have a baltimore gamesday key, so i'm just patiently waiting for my beta invite.

Currently in WoW I play a Blood Elf Paladin, so in the WarHammer Online Beta the closest choice would be the Dark Elves Black Guard ??

Still waiting for my invite but not holding my breath. If I get in, cool, if not, I'll just keep playing the open beta of Fury until Warhammer goes into open beta or is released.

/shrug

Ive been in for about 2 months now, so welcome to you new guys :)

Question, I know your under NDA but is the WarHammer Online beta cool enough to make ya stop playing WoW altogether, or do you still like to play WoW ??

I got into the beta about a month ago, and the thread got lost i believe during the rollback.

But yeah, currently playing.

Beta Testers: Be sure not to explicitly say anything about the game as these boards could get looked over by EAMythic.

I will never get into this game because of the lame download = 5gb , but the speeds for all the separate files is like 100 kb/sec at best, and a few of the files just stop dl after an hour or so, and have to restart again.

Anyone know of an .exe for the whole file ??

Signed up for this ages ago and nada so far...

Got a fast net connection, modern PC with Vista, what more could they want from a beta tester???

Bet they're too busy picking people with slow net connections, and jo average PC's which are all probably working fine already.

bah, just irritated that I never get into beta's, sucks.

/rant

*edit*

Er, use a different username

I will keep it under NDA, but just want to know your opinion is this beta kick butt next generation MMORPG, or does it make ya want to run back to the polished sweetness of WoW ??

My 5gb dl just finished will install the game tonight

Ok finally got it dl'd and installed :) But I can't even get into the game, because of lockups / freezes  I first see the login screen when I click on the game icon, have to enter name and password = no problem, then it brings me to the next screen to create my firtst character and choose race/class and on that screen the big issues come up

I get to the character creation screen and then the mouse stops moving and my display goes black, then a few seconds later it comes back to the character screen I can move mouse again but only for two seconds then again it freezes, and this happens over and over ......It will say display driver stopped responding or something . So obviously some type of driver issues or nVidia 8800GTX problem I am not aware of ?? I am using the 158.22 drivers

Funny thing I have had Vista64 installed since February, and never once did I see a BSOD = Blue Screen Of Death, but WarHammer Online gave me my first BSOD ever in Vista. I play other games with zero no problems at all, all games run smooth butter I play like; WoW, HalfLife2, QuakeWars, never lock up or freeze, so it must be a War issue ??

It does suck when this happens. And I feel your pain as one of my computers does this occasionally (not with War Beta as have not been accepted yet).

But if you havent done it already, post this in the Beta support forums or submit a ticket for this problem. Maybe it has to do with some sort of driver on the Vistax64 you have or could be something else. Who knows.... But at least you did find something that isn't working.

I have done beta for alot of MMO's and I have only found 50-60 faults over the years. So count yourself lucky that you may be contributing to a better game.

EDIT: Also, I noticed that your video drivers are old ones. Should try updating them and see if the problem continues.

Heh... its one of the first public versions, notice how its like 0.0.2 version of the game? Submit a bug report though, and try running it as admin / in XP compatability mode and see if it works that way, if not shoot me a pm :)

I'll play for ya.

By the way Zorachus,

I am running Vista x64 (Ultimate) and have no problems whatsoever running the game.

Are you sure its the OS and not the graphics driver?

I'm running the 7800GT series, not the 8800 series.

Your lucky then, and from the many pages of posts just about issues with Vista and WarHammer Online, they all have 8800's running too, the people running DX9 cards don't have our problems, it seems to be Vista + 8800 and your fukked = call me back once they find the problem.

But every other game I have installed works smooth butter, not once has a game crashed on me or froze, this is the first game since I built this Vista64 system to give me such problems

Same here. I've filled out the Beta application form, uploaded my system specs, and consistently submitted captions for their Screenshot Caption Contest. Still waiting 5 months later... /rant

Yep... watching and waiting... been a newsletter subscriber for around a year, too, and have prior MMO beta experience (heck, even one with THEM, their Labyrinth of the MInotaur expansion for their current game, "Dark Age of Camelot").

That is another reason why I haven't gone with the 8800 series just yet. All these instabilities of people reporting it with either 64bit or 32bit makes me a little worried as I have a similar setup sans the GPU. My 7800gt is really doing pretty good for 1920 x 1080 res and I really do hope nvidia's next gpu line (hopefully high end g92) will have better 64-bit vista drivers..

and ugh, i want to go 4gb, but i hear it fubar's the entire system if you have an x-fi product

Will try to keep this in NDA but the graphics look like sh!t is the beta using old DAOC settings, because WoW a three year old game looks light years ahead of this.

Vista64 = 4gb memory + X-Fi = u fuked, thank you Creative may I have another :rolleyes:

I bought the Razer Barracuda AC-1 just because of that, and my music and movies sound a million times better than the X-Fi Fatality I had

I have been running an 8800GTS 640, Q6600 quad-core, 4GB RAM, with Vista 64-bit and an X-Fi XtremeGamer flawlessly for months , what's supposedly the issue with them? Warhammer obviously is at fault here.

Haha, they are quoted as wanting to make it easily accessible and thus not implementing modern graphics features, in one of their Q&A's on the official site. The Warhammer shots I've seen look much WORSE than DAOC, let alone WoW.

Are ya serious ?? Because the graphics in the beta looks like real dog pile craptastic, they must be that way just for testing of the demo no fukking way they release the game looking this bad, like there isn't even an option for video settings just rez which I set to 2560x1600

OK, it wasn't the official site, it was an official interview:

MMO-Gamer said:
The MMO Gamer: I noticed during the demo that you’re using a relatively low-poly engine for this day and age. Could you discuss some of the reasons behind that?

Adam Gershowitz: Performance is king. Especially when you’re focusing on a game with RvR and you want to have a lot of people on screen running around doing a lot of things at once. There are two major reasons why we went this direction: The first and foremost is framerate. We want to have a lot of people on screen, we want battles to feel epic and powerful, and if you use cutting-edge technology you’re severely limited to the amount of things you’re going to have on the screen, unless people have an extraordinarily high level machine.

The second level is accessibility. You know, we are making a game, and we want to have good server population, so we wanted to be accessible to as many people as possible. We don’t necessarily want to force them into upgrading, and we don’t want to just be elitist and we don’t just want the very best machines. The engine is low-poly—now, admittedly it’s significantly higher than you would think, and there’s a lot of detail there, but it allows us by not using some things like normal maps, etc., it allows us to make more work, make more artwork in the game, it allows us to do more with what we’ve got, and it allows us to show a lot more on the screen.
