Waranty question

"This product has a limited warranty of:
12 months for parts and 12 months for labor.
This warranty is provided by Seagate."
 
a quick search through newegg reveals that there are very few drives than have a warranty more than 1 year. good luck with finding a decent drive with a longer warranty (and probably paying a lot for it).

isnt that just for internal drives though? when i looked for externals, they all showed 1-year warranty

yes, sorry.. me = did not read all the thread.
 
You won't find a portable with a longer than 5yr warranty, they get bumped around a lot more than an internal, so they account for it. If you want a nice warranty, buy the 300gb and then an enclosure.
 
what do you guys suggest? Get an internal and an enclosure or just this external 300 gig?
