Here is my specs:

Anything I could upgrade this system too to kinda update or what?

AMD Phenom X4 9550 Quad Core 2.2Ghz
6 GB DDR2 Ram
PNY GeForce 9600GSO 768MB Video Card
NEC 3550A DVD/CD Dual Layer Burner ( Modified Firmware )
Samsung 18X DVD/CD Dual Layer w/ Lightscribe
 
well a new gpu would be good whats your budget?

I honestly dont even know what gpu that is...
 
What motherboard do you have? Can it support Phenom II CPUs? If so, consider a Phenom II.

You could get something like the 460GTX or HD6770.

What's your budget?
 
Budget is a couple hundred bucks probably...

Socket: AM2+ is my motherboard spec.
 
We still need to know what motherboard you have.

Additional questions:
1) What PSU do you have?
2) What do you want to accomplish with this upgrade? Greater gaming performance? Greater Video editing performance? Greater system responsiveness?

Well you're definitely looking at a new PSU:
The Truepower I and II series as well as the Smartpower series were well known for their above average death rates due to a poor choice in caps and cooling design. In more specific terms, Antec/CWT specified/used caps (Fuhjyyu caps) that did not respond well to heat. Unfortunately, Antec made the decision to have the PSU fan only ramp at really high temps in an effort to keep the PSU quiet. However, just medium to high temps were enough to screw up the caps so really high temps were murderous. Over time, this degraded the quality and performance of those PSU series.

So I recommend replacing the PSU, especially if you hear a squeal, whine, or any odd noise coming from the PSU. Those are usually the first signs of those particular PSU lines dying. So if you do hear a squeal, whine, or any odd noise, that's enough grounds to replace the PSU.

Well you're basically limited to the CPU you have now due to that motherboard. So an upgrade to a Phenom II is out.
