i cant decide whether or not to upgrade to i7 or just wait for bulldozer or sandybridge ,whichever comes first, since i already have a q9550 and all i really do with my PC is game idk if its even reasonable to upgrade to the core i7 platform. i mean is there really a big difference between the q9550 and the i7 920 processor in gaming? or is it just the synthetic benchmarks that the i7 completely decimates the older 775 socket processors? so should i just pull the trigger and get on the i7 bandwagon? or should i just wait till the next generation of processors rolls in the market?

For gaming, the performance difference between Core i7 and Q9550 is pretty damn small. It is not large enough to warrant a full upgrade. However if you're planning on a Crossfire or SLI setup, the Core i7 920 has been shown to provide at least a 30% increase in performance over the Q9550. But for a single GPU, no major difference.
