Well after unknown expenses and tweaking I got my X1800XT to score a nice 10K in 3DMARK05! This is thanks to the newest X1800XT OC BIOS.

BTW: Crossfire coming by FRIDAY!!!!!!

Thank god!

CPU: X2 3800+ *270 x 10*
RAM: OCZ Gold VX *512 x 2*
Motherboard: DFI RDX200
Video: BBA X1800XT (OC BIOS BABY)
PS: OCZ PowerStream 510

You buy all this hardware and you still use the Free Version of 3DMark05!! lol :D

Congrats.......u bastid!!! :p

That's amazing, R1ckCa1n. That's an even higher score than a stock 7800GTX512 will get.

What I find most amazing is, even with the new BIOS, your X1800XT's fillrate is still almost 30% behind the 7800GTX512 and yet it would probably out-perform it many games (can you post a benchie of FEAR or something?).

I'm starting to agree more and more that raw fillrate can no longer be used as a means of comparision.

I plan to do a bunch of testing this weekend when I can get a fresh load of XP in Crossfire. :)

Congrats, can't wait to see your Crossfire results. How come it says 10069 in the background of 3DMark?

I wouldn't even worry about a dual 6800gt beating a x1800xt in 3dmark05. Even if it could in many games I believe the x1800xt would be better. In addition congrats on the score.

I was increasing the core overclock and just running again. The 10069 was with 750 core where the last score is from 765 core.

That would be relevent in an ATI thread now wouldn't it? That sir, is considered trolling

Na, the reason I posted it is because I wanted to know if you knew anything about this card. You usually have get the best card when it's available and I figured you might have had one of these.

Unfair assumptions are cool I guess............ :(

Texel fill rate for 7800GTX512
550*24 = 13200
Texel fill rate for x1800xt at 765mhz
765*16 = 12240

ROP fill rate for 7800GTX512
550*16 = 8800
ROP fill rate for x1800xt at 765mhz
765 * 16 = 12240

I don't understand where %30 came from, and running a benchmark at 1024x768 on pixel pushing monsters like this should be a misdemeanor. Fillrate is still, and will always be a measure of a card, there are just now more dimensions that simple ROP's. Graphics are highly parrallelized, and the only way to get a better framerate is to process more pixels at once.

One more thing, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't ROP's help with AA, in addition to memory speed, of course? I thinnk they do, and if this is true, this might be why the x1800xt does so well in AA, not because of some magical ring bus, but because the ROP's are actually doing the work as well, someone correct me...

R1ckCa1n, nice score dude! I'd bet that with the X1800XT you'll see 15K 3dmarks! More importantly, games will just rock at high resolutions!

Now, I just need to watch the UK suppliers like a hawk to see when the Crossfire edition is available here...

This sucks, i only get a little over 3500 with my rig (See sig).

Just hang in there for a month or two, when all us people with more money (and eye candy desire) than sense sell off our X1800XT's to get the latest ATI or NV offering...

nice 1 m8....how far can you oc the card?
Pre X1800XT OC BIOS: 720 core max for gaming

Post X1800XT OC BIOS: 765 core and stable in gaming.

I actually feel like I got a new card after updating the BIOS and it was FREE

Rick, what is your setup like? I am just wondering because that score seems a little low (unless you have a lower processor speed). at about 700/800 with an Athlon X2@2.8GHz-3Ghz, I am getting over 10K. At 765 I would hope for much more. Maybe the bios lowers the timings or soemthing to get that overclock? I was thinking of flashing my 1800xt, but I am gonna wait until I get more info at this point.

D

Things like this make me really want to buy an X1800XT, I am going to wait for R580's though. Damn nice score though man!

Where did you get the BIOS? and what OC program are you useing? Which cooling method did you use?

Ok so your 3dmark score is higher...Does it make a massive differents in games though?

wow, actually made it all the way to post 25 before someone made a comment related to 3d mark not being a game. at least it wasnt the retarded "can u play 3dmark05/is it fun?" :p

also, for u ppl complaining about having *only* 3500 and stuff like that, well i just have one thing to say. screw you. i got a whopping 370. thats right. three seven zero. p4 2.8 (not sure if it even has hyperthreading, i think it does?) and a fx5600, gg. oh, and it's in a hp pavilion crapbox, too. when i finally get around to upgrading (waiting for dfi's 6150/430 mobo), the integrated graphics is going to be an upgrade over my current video card

What do you guys mine by free upgrade? And why is your CPU clocked at 1.4ghz?

yes gaming is better but simply running 3dmark05 will tell a user how much increase they got. All I can tell you is this is like going from a 7800GT to a 7800GTX for FREE.

Who can complain?

I think each core is 1.4GHZ so it totals 2.8GHZ. And free upgrades means overclocking and bios flashing.

each core is at that speed because of cool and quiet.....:)
they go to full speed when needed, ex. playing a game

Oh makes more since (I was talking out my ass on that one)

I would suspect that after buying all that hardware he doesn't have the $ to buy the full version.

Yeah, I noticed that after, sry. I assumed that when he said he using the modded X1800XT BIOS, it was at stock speeds (ie. core speed at 700Mhz). Also, I assumed that the 7800GTX512 was clocked at a core speed of 580MHz (since the vast majority of the retail versions are). This would put the X1800XT's fillrate at 11.2Gtxls and the 7800GTX512's at 13.92Gtxls (this is approximately 30%). This is wrong, of course, because I fogot to take his overclock into account as well.
