I was curious how these are shot? I want to get starVR whenever it comes out and i am curious if current stuff is only shot at 100 degrees or 200 or 360. Is content made for the future or only for current devices?

Also how does that work on different devices? If one device is 100 another is 120 and another is 210 but content is 150 degrees...how does that work?

Also any content you recommend? I am going to barrow my bros galaxy gear vr to test it out for fun. Is there any free movies or interesting content to try....besides porn?

Also does the galaxy vr only work with cellphone content or can it act as a screen for PC? (i assume no)

Also what is a good app to murder people? I want to murder a few people while i have the chance before i can get arrested for it :p

You can use the galaxy with PC using a few different hacks, google will help you out. There's a very thorough walk through out there that uses a combination of 3 or 4 different softwares (including Nvidia shield) to get the content fine tuned to your phone and home network as latency is a killer if you want to do any gaming stuff. You'll need a very good wireless router or you'll have to connect your phone to your computer via usb for it to be any good.

you mean like VLCing to my PC through phone?

okay...tried watching a VR movie and holy shit is it choppy. I have an S7 and it lacks the power to play smoothly and the interface is choppy too lol.

It seems cool but quite underpowered and meh at the moment.

Also isn't the galaxy VR about the same res as the Vibe/Rift? If so holy shit is this a pixelated mess! People were saying these didn't show pixels....bullshit! Ugh i see pixels and screen door effect and man is it ugly. Are the vibe/rift the same? If so thank god i never bought one and waiting for Star VR.

Your eyes must be better than 20/20 then.

The Vive has a resolution of 1080x1200 per eye. The S7 screen has a resolution of 2560x1440, of which the width would be split in half for each eye, resulting in 1280x1440 per eye. So technically speaking, the S7 has a higher resolution than the Vive, though the optics might be different and that will probably factor into it as well. Are you sure it's not a case of the S7 not being powerful enough resulting in pixelation?

no i can see pixels and the gaps. Also i have to wear glasses for this otherwise everything is blurry do to astigmatism. :/

Also i now it isn't using the whole screen. If you pull it off while running maybe 50% of the actual screen has the VR on it. A lot of space is wasted so that is why i am asking. Does vive/rift use the whole screen or only a portion of it?

EDIT: well i do and dont need glasses...depends on the content.

Also i see pixels with and without glasses :/

I believe that the full resolution is available to the eyes on the Vive because it is a dedicated system rather than a janky enclosure to make a phone screen work. The Vive (and others like it) have individual screens per eye.

pretty sure vive has 1 screen like rift and star vr is the only one with 2 screens. anyways it looks like gear vr is using like 80% of the screen so should be close to vive/rift which makes me glad i never bought those and i am waiting

sooooo low res :/

Also the stuttering during vvideo is throttling i think...or the worst part of the stutter is due to phone melting lol. Give me the S8 with 4K and better SOC :D

EDIT: oh also i am having big problems with getting VR videos to stream right. Some have all sorts of messed up aspect ratios.

ones that appear to be reasonable i try SBS3D 180/360 and the 3D actually looks pretty cool but menus are all messed up and it seems a little off. Thought the SBS3D setting did make the video look pretty badass lol and i always hated 3D but VR 3D was pretty neat but fairly broken TT

EDIT: yea i found some content that worked as 180 SBS3D and wow.....wow....it was fucking cool! Other content alignment is off :/

Any idea on how to fix that or why it is like that? Now if only higher res TT. I want starVR so damn bad!!!

VR video is cool but VR 3D...wow. Color me impressed. It makes me a little sick due to it being a bit broken but wow does the shit look pretty real lol.

Tsumi does this work?

Pretty sure your pretty sure is a bit off here. Both the Rift and the Vive use a dedicated, stand alone OLED display panel per eye, each with a resolution of 1080x1200 per eye with a 90hz refresh. I own both and have had them opened up. They are separate displays.

No, that won't work well due to latency and bandwidth constraints. The best versions I saw used Nvidia shield as it was built for low latency and high bandwidth game reproduction.

how does that work with gear VR?

I actually don't know much about VR, so this is where my contribution ends :D

yea i am thinking the content is fine but the streaming menu glitches because saved videos menu acts differently. SBS3D VR is pretty sick but still makes me sick. I think it is a combination of low res, not high enough frame rate (60fps), and i wonder if Gear VR has shittier lenses. I notice there is chromatic abrasion on the peripheral content vs center content. Does Vive/Rift have the same issue? I assume it is the single screen hacked VR experience.

Also i dont know how people don't see the pixels lol. I feel like i am looking at the moto photon pentile screen lol.
