Pretty crappy poll man. DNF is an OK game.

14 years in development hell just to finally release a mediore game that is completely irrelevant in today's market? I would have preferred Gearbox let it die when 3D Realms went under and done a Duke Nukem reboot instead.

I haven't beat it yet, but honestly it needed another 6 months max. They could have polished out a lot of the fail. It wouldn't have been revolutionary, but it was never going to be.

I wish there was a "Take the license and make a brand new awesome game from the ground up" type option.

How about a new poll. Should every post by ShuttleLuv be scrapped? My vote is most definitely. I just wish that threads made by users in your ignore list didn't show up, lol.

So you ignore him yet you read his thread and post in it. Fail will always be fail sir.

Alright another DNF thread? Just what we needed and oh boy a poll too!!! how...

Fucking boring.

LOL says the 30 day hardocp VETERAN! Yeah baby!

Why is this fucking thread dumb? It's a discussion. This game just released, it's a popular topic. Just fucking vote or leave the thread.

Uh you don't come into my thread and insult me and my thread title when I've been here since 97. Who are you? 31 days? If you think my threads and myself are stupid, perhaps you should evaluate yourself and why you choose to enter my threads. Maybe you are actually the one who is?

There are plenty of duke threads and lots of opinions on the topic already being voiced. Posting a thread with the thread title "Vote" shows you put a lot of thought into it.

Its your right to post the thread no doubt but its also mine right to tell you what I think of it.

Also some advice , don't throw the "I've been around since the dawn of the website" speech. No one cares how long you've been here , people are commenting on the thread not your loyalty to the web forum.

I'm kind of sad they released it.

I've been gaming a long time, I've owned many many different PCs and consoles in that time.

The one constant was DNF. Now its gone...

Time spent on a forum != intelligent posting, as made obvious in this example.

even if they lose money on the game, they still got to release it and try to get some of their investment back.

It could have used more work, but it's pretty decent. I regret buying Bioshock 2 a lot more than I regret buying DNF.

I wonder how many votes would fill up a 4th: "Other, none of the above options describe my feelings on the matter."

Pete sakes, we are supposed to die if we haven't played it yet!

Seriously? I had actual fun with Bioshock 2 , it wasn't the greatest sequel by any means but it sure the fuck was better than the ass load of sour diarrhea cream that DNF is made from.

i would of rather waited 14 more years as long as it was 3D Realms doing the game. but 3D Realms should of made the game die when they went under instead of letting gearbox ruin it.

Bioshock 2 looked the same as the first game, had almost identical gameplay, was woefully short, had a boring and predictable storyline, and generally sucked. DNF is actually fun to play. Bioshock 2 felt like a shittier version of the original game.

3DRealms designed the game and made the content. If anyone is to blame, it's them. But I wouldn't expect you of all people to actually bother to learn some real facts about the game's development process.

DNF has absolutely no shot at all of success imho. I was one of the people who for years just stated they should release it and take the negative press, because it will never live up to expectations. But at least this way the developers could stop with all the mockery.

Now, I will admit it's not as good as I was hoping it to be, even with lower than normal expectations. But I think it was a decision that had to be made. (I personally feel they should have kept with the Duke Nukem formula rather than trying to be Yet Another Halo Clone).

DNF has the same plot as well (save the world in the same exact location) has the same gameplay (with a few tiny moments of relief , remote control car) and is extremely short. The plot in DNF?

DNF for me was about as much fun to play as it was to throw up the last time I got food poisoning. At least Bioshock 2 attempted a different story and you got to play as a big daddy which in concept was cool. The MP was fun for a few days , nothing revolutionary but fun. However it suffered from the same horrible technical bugs from the first game.

Bottom line both games suck , we just disagree on which sucks more.

You'd be wrong about that , the pre-orders alone were pretty big. People also buy games for fun factor and people also buy terrible Wii 3rd party games that end up being successful. It was also number in sales a week before release.

I think DNF will sell well for a few weeks and ultimately be pretty decent investment for Gearbox. It however will be hated by actual gamers while the casual gaming community will still enjoy it.

When will this fallacy die already ? It didn't take 14 years to be developed. It took 14 years from the day it was announced to the day it was released, but it was NOT in development for that whole time!!!
