Voltage Reading OK?

I am using an 5-year-old Antect 350W for my E6300, X850 XT PE, 250G HD, 2 DVD burners, and 5 fans.

Using the radio shack digital multimeter, the voltage reading for 12v are:

- idle: from 12.3v to 12.10v
- Load (Orthos): 11.95v
- Load (game) : 11.78v to 11.85v (up to 11.93v)

what do these readings mean? is this a stable PS? Do I need to replace this PS?

Do these readings mean that the PS provide enough watts to the system? or they just tell how stable the voltage are.

You have good readings, your psu is keeping within spec and withing the 2-3% fault tolerance range.

some people here said that I am crazy using that old and low watt PS for that system.
that concerned me abit.

are they within spec even though load readings are under 12v?

If your 5v is going unusually high at the same time, the supply is likely slightly overloaded or heavily crossloaded. On an Antec that old, I would open it up and inspect the capacitors for bulging and/or leaking before using it another second.

Very good advice & clean it while it is open. ;)

the 5v reading is normal, not too high or low.

I think I opened my PS more than 10 times, replacing fans to lower noice.

What kind of sign do I need to find in the PS for any leak?
