Haven't tried Daemon yet. I want to run some tests on Counterstrike again and take screenshots for my clan.pxc said:That's disappointing. I have the same model printer.
Have you tried Daemon Tools? It worked good for mounting images in Vista for me.
You probably have a usb keyboard...you might need a PS/2 keyboard to continuejetjaguar said:for some reason my dvd will not boot .. it says press any key to boot from the cd or dvd and when i do .. it goes right on loading xp
sprocket said:The $10 "thingie" was an offer from MS to get both versions (32/64 bit) of Vista Beta 2 on disk.
It's over now and no longer available.
I'm pretty sure that those who took advantage of this initial offer also get RC1 sent along when it's released.
I hope.

With next to nothing running it's using 1.06 gigs of memory.Flak Pyro said:Hows the memory usage? Still wild or has it settled down yet?
What the F !?!?! thats rediculous...Apallohadas said:With next to nothing running it's using 1.06 gigs of memory.
Agreed...what the hell? A gig of memory nearly idle!!?? I'm really hoping that either a.)the memory usage goes way down for the final build or b.)the price of hardware plummets to the ground...Steve_010 said:What the F !?!?! thats rediculous...

That was a great brief first impression. Would it be okay if I quoted you on that in something I am working on regarding an evaluation of Vista?drizzt81 said:I think I will have a pretty hard time transitioning between XP and this. I dislike all the weird popups and as a long-time winXP user, I am not pleased with the changes to the menu bar, such as the relocation of the fwd/ back buttons, the lack of an "up" button and generally the confusion about the location bar. I must say that I will surely get used to it and am certainly a change resistant user (otherwise I'd be running linux!),
I'd suggest you get familiar with using 'Search', because under Vista it's a great tool which can eliminate almost all of the folder navigation annoyances. The lack of that 'Up' button isn't really annoying at all when you get to the point where typing a few characters into Search spits up anything you want to find.drizzt81 said:I think I will have a pretty hard time transitioning between XP and this. But does IE7 have all those sexy extensions?InorganicMatter said:Wow, this is the first Vista that has WORKED for me, out of the box. I must say, I'm very very impressed with this, although all the security BS annoys me. IE7 is awesome as well, I'm tempted to betray Firefox, since IE's tabbed browsing does everything FF does...
sure, I don't mind some fameGreNME said:That was a great brief first impression. Would it be okay if I quoted you on that in something I am working on regarding an evaluation of Vista?
I understand your point. As I had mentioned, my reluctance w.r.t. change is what makes me miss it. I guess that I could get used to the search feature, but consider this: Windows navigation is (and used to be) mostly mouse based. Given that, when I am browsing my folders, I have my right hand on the mouse to point, click etc. If I do not have the "up" arrow and use search instead, I have to disengage the mouse, type a part of my search phrase and re-engage. Certainly not conventient.Catweazle said:I'd suggest you get familiar with using 'Search', because under Vista it's a great tool which can eliminate almost all of the folder navigation annoyances. that is because you get invited to use pre-RC1. I received an e-mail as one of the "select" people that they'd like to give Vista a spin.Javelin3o4 said:i tried using my Beta 2 Key but it doesnt work. says it cant validate it.![]()
I'm wondering that now too. I have a Beta 2 key and was under the impression that would work for this. I didn't have to register for this new build, so I'm thinking I'm not going to get a new key.ChingChang said:So why was the link even posted if only the people who got the email can use it?

tazzmissionx said:I like this beta even better already because X-fi Vista drivers installed and worked without a hitch, it was a disaster to even istall them on RC2
I think it's 10?tronmaster said:When I tried Beta 2, I couldn't get the X-fi drivers to work at all, it actually crashed my system. I didn't get the invite but I did install Pre-RC1 with my Beta 2 keys. No problem.
I am triple booting at this moment between Windows XP Pro, Windows XP Pro 64-bit and Windows Vista. No problems at all! I can play WoW fine. If Pre-RC1 is an indication of Vista getting better from now till retail. I will definately purchase the Ultimate Edition on the first day it's released.
By the way, does anyone know what is the highest number you can get on that Windows Experience Index thingy? I got an overall score of 4.9 out of ??
drizzt81 said:I think it's 10?
Probably hardware that has not come out yet, but will be available when people start upgrading to Vista (DX 10 video cards, quad core CPUs, ect)compwarez said:i want to know if there such hardware that windows experience index give you 10 rating.
