I was browsing Geeks.com's green light specials when i came accross a VR Headset for television/DVD (no RGB input)..

i was wondering if anyone has watched TV on one of these?

what do they look like, are they really that good or bad?

i've looked into them in the past, but never really considered them because of the price.
 
I've never used one, but the resolution on that thing sucks (800x225? What is that?) and it say it is equivalent to a 36" screen at 6 feet which is... well, not that great either.
 
i am more wondering how good the quality is though, the idea of the portabiity of it is what is appealing to something like this..

even though it is 36" it would be nice for traveling and what not..

i have looked at others that simulate a large screen but those are quite a bit (500$ for a cheap one)..
 
Resolution isn't that bad NulloModo considering the price. Well enough to play all of todays dvds and even video games over a lap top with good IQ. The actual unit looks fairly uncomfortable though but I might buy something like this if I traveled more frequelty. I'd be interested in hearing what other people have to say about this device, looks kind of neat for the cost imo.

Eh, I guess for an interlaced DVD signal it meets the minimal standards... but still, this day in age it seems silly to buy anything that can't at least display a true progressive scan signal (ED res), personally, I'd stay away from anything that isn't HD.
 
my friend had something like that back whenever halo was released... i used it to play in a multiplayer game against them, and I will say it is a very cool device... for traveling i'd say its worth it but that was quite some years ago so I can't comment on the quality of the picture anymore... I just remember it taking up the majority of my eye sight and not straining my eyes or anything...

did it really look like a , in this case, a 36" TV @ 2meters?

or was it more like a magnifying glass looking at a small LCD screen?
