Video Problem after proc upgrade (E8400)

Ok, here's the situation:

My old setup:

Q6600
EVGA 8800 GTX
4 gigs OCZ Platinum Revision 2 DDR2 800
XFX 680i SLi A+ motherboard
5 HDD
2 Optical
OCZ GamerXstream 700watt PSU

Upgraded to:

E8400
Same Video
4 gigs A-Data DDR2 800
Same mobo

Problem!

My EVGA card will now not display. Right now I'm using a cheapo 1050x ATi card instead.

The error code is 7F (on the mobo) if that helps.
 
Yup. P32.

Without the update, even the ATi card wouldn't work.

I've also flashed the CMOS half dozen times, took the battery out, sacrificed 2 chickens, and sold several souls.

I appreciate any help :D
 
well several flashes aren't helping.
Are you sure that it isn't the ram? Try your old kit and then if it works you have to check other parts.
I think it's likely one of the new parts you swapped in which I'm looking at A-data. Shoddy brand IMO even though its' a good price. Give it a try
 
I picked up a cheap-o GPU (1050x) from best buy and the A-Datas are working fine with that. Even overclocked the E8400 up to 4 ghz.

Put the settings back to default, throw in the 8800 and... Zip. Nothing. Nada.

Taking my system down to the bare bones and the error code no longer shows 7F but instead FF, which I believe is "fine", but still no picture. I can hear the system booting into windows and everything.

I'm stumped.
 
Try another power supply to rule out a PSU problem. Yes that PSU has enough amps on the +12V rail to run your system but never think that a PSU isn't a problem just because of its supposed quality or wattage.

If a new PSU didn't work, then maybe you got a bum 8800GTX now.
 
Ok, Got it up and running, even overclocked to 3.75.

I took the battery out of the motherboard overnight, flashed the CMOS again, and with the shitty gpu in place, manually set the memory timings for the A-Data.

Everything is great now!

With the Chilltec TEC on the E8400, my system is insanely quiet.
