+1 to the HD 5450.

Supports bitstreamed audio via HDMI. Way better than the 7.1 LPCM audio via HDMI with the HD 4650 or no audio via HDMI with either of those two Nvidia cards.
 
turns out that chart does me no good because the ones on newegg dont fit into it quite right.

But the 4650 is DDR3 128bit (1800 Mhz effective memory)whereas the 5450 is DDR2 64bit ( 1000 Mhz effective... Is this going to be noticed? Or be a problem somewhere else?

And i'm still fuzzy on stream processors but will the 4650 having 320 and the 5450 having only 80 make a difference?

None of those specs matter whatsoever since you're just watching video. It's all about the features those cards have for video. In this case, the HD 5450 is the far better buy,

Now if you were gaming and didn't care too much of audio via HDMI, then the HD 4650 would have been the better choice.
 
The Eyefinity and the HDMI Audio look to be the deciding factor then? Is there any other benefit? The 4650 has no reviews on NE and the 5450 only has one, but it's bad. Says it's underpowered and cant handle even dragging files around the desktop.

Dude probably didn't even install the drivers.

The HD 5450 does not support Eyefinity BTW AFAIK. But the HD 5450 does use less power (20W) than the HD 4650 (48W).

But yeah audio quality via HDMI and lower power usage is the main deciding factor for a HTPC.

The Eyefinity setup won't work for tri monitors as the XFX card removed the displayport so users don't have to buy the dongle.

The adobe flash video acceleration seems cool for the 5000 series. But in adobes documentation it says 4xxx series or higher so nevermind...

The benchmarks they did were almost all on gaming, but they did one on power and cooling. The 4650 jumps up to about 60W under load while the 5450 only about 40W. And the temp on the 4650 goes from 22C at idle to ~40C under load. The passive 5450 goes from 22C at idle to ~30C under load. So it is cooler and consumes a little less on the power front.

In this review the bitstreaming doesn't seem to matter since it says that it will come out through lpcm anyways because of protected audio path. And i definintely dont have a truehd receiver for it so i won't notice. :
