1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Video Editing primarily with some 3d work and hosting Virtual machines because that 24 bay Supermicro dual opteron I thought was such a great deal is too darn loud. Premiere Pro, After Effects, Maya, Photoshop, Illustrator. VMware Workstation. Hackintosh for Final Cut Pro. Some games Battlefield 4, Diablo 3. Star Citizen in the distant future. Folding for the Horde when I'm not using it for any of the above.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Whatever it costs rather not spend more then around $2000 for everything else not including Motherboard, CPUs and Operating System and OS SSDs since those have been ordered or have them already.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
New Jersey, United States
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Case, RAM, PSU, blue Ray burner, Cooling, SAS Raid card, SSDs for Raid Array,
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Maybe AMD HD 6950 video card(worth holding out for 790, 870 or 880?)
Maybe 2 WD Black 2 tb raid 1 for data.
6) Will you be overclocking?
No Xeons are locked and this is a work machine.
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
Two 24 inch Dell 2412M 1900x1200 each. Considering getting a 3rd for Surround/Eyefinity but I don't play that much Battlefield and video cards to support are pricey with little work benefit plus I would need a new desk. Only game on one screen.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Next week.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
Already selected Motherboard but reliable dual socket motherboard with USB 3. Firewire. I like to use add on raid cards so will not be using onboard raid.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit license and OSX license to use.
Items without links/price I already ordered or have on hand.
