I am going to be building a video editing PC for my dad, could anyone comment on the spec i have so far. My dad already has his DVD Writers etc to add to the machine. Will be using Pinnacle Studio 11, so not a major peice of software but its more the video rendering side of things, he needs a fast machine for around £400 and this is what i have come up with, comments please:

The build, for the most part, looks fine. I have a concern about the PSU that comes with the Elite 330, but I doubt your system -- if it's just used for video editing -- will stress it much.

Are you planning to overclock the processor? If so, the AC Freezer 7 Pro wouldn't be up to the task. (If you're not overclocking, you can get away with using the stock HSF that comes with the Q6600.)

the AC Freezer 7 can actually still hold its own with overclocking quads , i had my Q9400 @ 3.2 ghz with one an it was about 43C idle / 55C load

an my buddy has one on his Q6600 @ 3.4ghz , don't remember his temp but it does not overheat or get close to tcase max

Man we have oddly different experiences and/or cases. In my bro's PC with a Sonata II case, his Pentium D 820 at stock speeds hits about 65C with the AC7 Pro. In my own PC with a P180 case, my E6400 at 3.2Ghz hits 60C to 65C load.

Oh well, the OP now has info from two sources about how well the AC7 Pro performs.

Hi guys, thx for the replies :) i will not be overclocking, so the Arctic Freeze should do the job hopefully. The PSU is the only thing i had reservations about. But unfortunately the budget is not allowing a more well known make of PSU. :(

Knowing CM's cheap PSU line, that one is probably a re-labeled 360W... so don't expect much out of it.
