I am looking to build a new PC. I have not paid much attention to hardware for quite a few years now, but I have tried to read up on a bit over the past week.
This PC will be in my living room where I have a 100" 720p 3D-capable projector. I currently have a 4-year-old laptop (HP nx6125) which is on its way out and an Android phone (LG G2x) which both let me cover a majority of the simpler things like email and web browsing.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
HD Video Editing (Sony Vegas)
Gaming
Streaming Video (Netflix, etc.)
Internet Browsing
Somewhat HTPC-like usage
General purpose computering when my laptop finally dies
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$1000-1500. Shipping and tax not included.
3) Where do you live?
Oregon, USA. (NO SALES TAX)
20 minutes to a Fry's Electronics location.
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.

None specifically, though I currently have a few external hard drives I may put in it.

Not for now.
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
Currently have:
Acer H5360 100" projection screen (1280x720) for gaming, video watching
Plan on getting:
20-something inch monitor for everyday use. Don't need one immediately, but will get one when money allows.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Over the next month or so. Not in a real hurry.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
USB 3
eSATA would be nice, but as long as there are internal SATA ports I already have some eSATA port adapters
On-board sound with digital out, capable of 5.1, (unless I wind up with a separate sound card)
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes, Windows 7 Professional x64
I have looked around and picked a few components that I think might fit what I need:
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti
I would like to go with something nVidia because in the event I decide to get a 3D setup going in the future, my projector is designed to work with nVidia drivers, and it looks like people are having overall more success with nVidia cards in that capacity. Also, my new cell phone has an nVidia Tegra 2 processor, and I do like brand consistency.
CPU: i5-2500K or i7-2600K
I have seen a lot of people saying that for gaming the 2500K is just about as good as the 2600K, but the 2600K has multi-threading that may help with video editing applications.
RAM: G.SKILL RipJaws 2x2GB
Should 4GB be fine, or is 8GB pretty much the standard now?
I plan on having this computer for a while, so I don't want to go too cheap and have to upgrade things a year from now, but I also don't have unlimited funds.
