Hey guys!
Im currently looking to upgrade my gpu. Ive been out of the game for a while so i dont know what the best bang for my buck is and what is an actual upgrade. Im currently running a Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1gb, (which has been amazing). I plan to buy this at the same time the new intels are out since im also going to be upgrading cpu/mobo. My budget is $400. Doesnt matter if it is a single card or SLI/Crossfire.

wait another week until the GTX 770 is officially out and available.
Otherwise, purchase a used GTX 680 or a new Radeon 7970

What resolution will you be using?
 
Which games? What resolution?

What does your current setup looks like? Which of the "new intels" are you considering?

Im currently running:
Case: Cosair 200r
CPU: Core 2 Quad
Motherboard:?
Ram: 8gb
GPU: Radeon HD 6870
HDD: Seagate 1 tb, Hitachi 3tb
PSU: 750watt Antec (pushing its 2nd year)
Display: 23 inch @1080p
Other:Bluray rw, dvd rw

So i play games at 1920x1080.I play just about everything and anything but mostly just these:
League of Legends
Diablo3
WoW
Minecraft
CoD

I plan to go with the new gen i7k. So of course that means new mobo. And I plan to just also replace the ram. Essentially its almost going to be a new build later on.
 
Are you planning on playing any other games?
Which Antec 750W?

I'm surprised the HD 6870 isn't sufficient for LOL, D3, and Minecraft at 1080P.
 
Do note that you will probably have to get new RAM at the same time as getting the new Haswell CPUs as you more than likely have DD2 RAM. The Haswells will use DDR3 RAM. So yeah, you can't reuse your RAM with the new Haswell CPUs.

Your PSU should be fine for your planned upgrades. I'd probably look at the GTX 770 if it's $400.
 
So ive been researching all day at work (since there isnt much to do anyways) and i found myself leaning towards the gtx770. What is a reccomended brand for cards these days? I like sapphire but do they even do nvidia platform? And what differs from one another?

Sapphire doesn't make Nvidia cards. What makes one brand differs from one another is warranty length, history of good customer support, and one's personal experience with the brand.

I generally recommend Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI for video cards.

Awww... no Galaxy recommendation?

Galaxy would be on my short list if I were shopping for a Geforce.
Oh, wait, I just bought a Galaxy Geforce 610 for my HTPC.

Galaxy seems to be an ok choice. I've been certainly impressed by the presence of their representative here on the forums. But I haven't dealt with their customer support nor have I read much about people dealing their customer support either. So while Galaxy may not be part of my top recommendations, they're seem to be solid enough for me to recommend them when their cards are priced better than Asus, Gigabyte, or MSI cards.
