Video card recommendation.

Hey guys, I just recently purchased a refurb ASUS desktop from Newegg. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883220034) Im happy with its performance so far, but I would like to switch from the onboard video, which scored a 3.5 for gaming/3.6 for Aero in the Windows 7 User Experience Index.

I am new to custom PC hardware and would like any thoughts on purchasing a low budget (under $75.00) PCI-e card that must have HDMI & VGA outputs. Gaming is not the goal, more for Aero and video encoding. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to use the full budget you have then on the ATI side of things there is

If gaming isn't a concern then I would probably go for the GT 220 since it is cheaper. Now if you want the cheapest card that fits your needs then go for

I am not sure of which video cards are better for encoding so these may not be tailored to that.

given that that probably has a crappy PSU your limited in that as well as budget. the best at your price point is probably the 4670 here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150450

another ten will get you a no name brand 5670 faster and has DX11 for what its worth, another 25 for the XFX version that is too close to the 5750 for comfort.

one last option is the 4650, about 50 bucks. doesn't do will in gaming (DDR2 board, ranging from 64 bit to 128 bit) but would do fine in areo

I think he could do better, the lower end 5450 and such don't perform much better then the 4600s, not enough to warrant the cost for the DX11 that you can't use on a lower end card anyways. for the same price as that card he can get a 4670 (off brand)

The pictures of it on Newegg are pretty small but it looks like the PSU might be a Delta Electronics PSU. Which means it isn't that crappy. Now all we need to know is how much amperage on the +12V rail there is.

For your needs, you don't need to spend $75 for a video card. The $30 HD 3450 card that Simmonz will be fine for your needs. However if you want high-end audio via HDMI one of these days, spend the extra $20 for this card:

Thank you all so much. I think I'm gonna go with the MSI R5450-MD512H, unless there's anything else I should know. I do recall having problems with an off brand 5450, it actually reduced the "experience index" rating when I installed it. (granted, that was in a cyberpowerPC that was nothing but problems, so I returned the whole system) Also, should I even really be worried about those ratings?

The windows 7 "User Experience Index". The graphics scores are the only ones that are low.
