Video card for girlfriend's gaming pc...

I currently run a gaming setup for myself with a 9700 Pro that has been neglected. I'm just holding out till prices drop more for myself. I want to know what's a good video card for the money preferably under $100 for my girlfriend's gaming pc. I want to go buy X850 PCI-E and upgrade my mobo to give g/f 9700 pro, but at this time it's not wise (prices and hard to find ati cards). Therefore can anyone point me to a card that my girlfriend can use to play Counter-Strike, and probably CS: Source as well till upgrades are made? As well I want a ATI card.

There are 9600 Pro 128MB/128-bit memory cards on pricewatch for around $100 shipped. Be sure to read the descriptions and verify 128-bit memory.

If you would consider a non-ATI card, I would recommend the 6200 AGP since those can be easily unlocked to a full 6600 (8 pipelines) for about the same price: $106 shipped at newegg for a Chaintech 6200 AGP 128MB/128-bit memory. It runs CS:S great unlocked, even up to 1600x1200. I have a thread in the nvidia forum with benchmarks.

You can get a second 9700Pro of Ebay for about $100 Shipped

Should be pretty good?

I don't see any 9700 pro auctions in the last week that closed that low (and only 2 in the last month). Generally they're closing for $115 - $130 (+ $10-$15 shipping  ).

But there are several AIW 9700 Pro cards closing for around the same price. :D I might pick up one of those. Prepare to be sniped.

9600/9600Pro are probably your best bet for the amount of money you want to spend.

Yeah the AIW, Those will be good. It's actually one of the ones I might pick up.

Just watch the specs on the 9600 before you buy. They come in both 64-bit and 128-bit memory flavors. I got a 128-bit on sale a while back for $65 for 128mb version.

Yeah, 9600 pro is what I was thinking about buying. Just wanted other opinions as sometimes everyone gets those little doubts in their heads and want reinforcement to feel it's the right decision.

Thanks for the suggestions.
