hmm after folding for 2 weeks i started getting the following this Crash

Does this mean i need to pick up a 460?

We're going to need a few more details. And no, you don't necessarily need to replace the card. I recommend that you do not use Youtube for your technical support needs.
 
Tried re-installing your drivers?

It only happens for games? Or does it happen when you fold?

I suggest a technical support call to your manufacturer.

Youtube for technical support......that's an interesting thought.......

yeah like he said we need more details.. because if its a g92 card you could most likely solve the problem by baking the card.. if its a G200 series then its possible the cards dying but we need more details on exactly whats happening.. (especially since i cant load the youtube video thanks you shitastic free wifi connection)
 
Me say:

- what are the system specs/driver versions???????
- use a utility to monitor the temps of the GPU while folding and post the logs
- post the F@H log(s) prior to the freeze(s)
- overclock the card? What are the numbers?

I'm always looking for a reason to get a new generation [insert hardware type here]. Don't let a 280 freezing stop you from a 460.

You might just need to clean out the case/fans with some canned gas [non-flammable preferably ]. :D

basic specs:

win7
E8400 back at stock speeds
Tagen BZ 800w power supply
bfg geforce gtx 280 OC (bought it 2nd hand no warranty]
EVGA 750i ftw MB


I've tried running drivers from 258.96 (currently using),257.21, 197.13, and 186.18 with the same issue.

The card crashes after i do 1 of 5 things though not every time, On boot during the win7 flash screen, when i launch a web browser, playing a video in Media Player, any game sometimes 1 min in to up to an hour. And lastly after folding for a few minutes. The PC is completely unresponsive and have to hard reset to get it back up.

I keep my PC pretty clean, I have been watching Rivatuner during a crash and is reporting the core heat around 82-88C when it crashes. I checked the voltage on the 12v rail and it running steady at 12.15 under load.

I guess im just looking for someone to agree with me so i can justify going ahead with the 460 before BingCB is gone.
 
yep looks like the cards toast.. since its not a g92 based card ya cant bake it to fix the problem..

In Monkey's defense, I have heard others say this as well...I assumed it had something to do with the chip's architectural differences, but it's good to know that baking does work...Now I just need to find some cheaply priced dead cards and give 'em the zombie treatment to boost my PPD:D

 
Baking fixes a physical issue with the card, which is that parts become separated from the PCB so you need to bake it to reflow the solder and make them reattach. That problem isn't exclusive to G92 cards, although it is a very common issue with them.
 
Thanks everyone, I went ahead and picked up a 460 I'll try baking it after my 460 shows up.
