Hi,

Ive been out of the PC video card business for about 3 years.. my last purchase and current card is a evga 8800gtx.

Now that Im playing BF BC2 id like to upgrade.

What would be the absolute best card i can get for 200 or less (ati 5770??) im so lost these days with all the models,,

would a sub 200 dollar card be an upgrade on my 8800gtx?

Thanks for any info

First and foremost, what PSU do you have?
Second, what's the max resolution of your monitor?

If you have to have DX11, then the 5770 is your only choice at the moment. If not, a GTX275, GTX260, or Radeon 4890 will offer comparable performance for cheaper if you buy used. Nvidia's new cards might drive down prices, especially on the 5830/5850, but that's still just a guess.

Ematsui take a look at the review of the 5830 on hardocp.com pretty decent card there some advantages over the 5770.

5830 would be fine, but may be cost prohibited.Nv is suppose to be around the corner and might cause some price movement.Might score a 275 used. There was a post somewhere that had a new 275 for 205$.

edit:MSI 5770 for 159.99 in hot deal

power supply not best, but your spec.should not push it to hard

If you're willing to wait, just as the others have said, Nvidia's next set of cards coming out may drive prices down.. So you could end up grabbing a powerful gtx275.

Otherwise, an ATI 5830 or 5770 would be the best bang for your buck, especially since it will work fine with your current setup. I have a friend that's using an OCZ 600w xtremegamer psu with an e6600, 2gb of ram, 1x640gb hd and 1 dvd rom with an Nvidia 9800gtx (not the + version) and the 9800gtx consumes more wattage than the 9800gtx+ and gts 250 (9800gtx+ rebrand).

If you're using Windows XP still (im not sure) then DX11 is kinda pointless since you cant use it, but the new cards comming out should have some effect on pricing (at least in the used market) making GTX 2xx and Radeon 48xx cards cheaper
