VF900 at Newegg!

I can't justify the $50 pricetag. I ignored this cooler for the vf700-AlCu which I used on my 6600gt and transfered it to my current card (6800gs) which idles @ 38C, and tops at 58C load. So I think the design of the vf900 is awesome, but that $50 is too much for a few degrees less than the vf700-cu. I wonder if there will be an LED version?

Depends on what your needs are, but I currently don't mind having 2 slots occupied (not like I'm going to use the PCI-E 1x now anyway). I would buy it if I was still on stock though :).

only noise freaks get a zalman lol

I personally think a arctic cooling cooler would work better, and they are cheaper, please correct me if i am wrong

Trust me it is worth the 50 dollars going from the stock leaf blower to this. I own and love it. 50 Dollars for silence is golden

Go to xtremesystems.org and find that the artic cooling cooler does not cool near as well as the zalman

what video card you have?

I'm still trying to figure out if I can fit one around my A8N-SLI Deluxe NB heatsink with a 6600gt....

Maybe I should get one...then again I don't *really* have any problems with my stock heatsink.

I'm picking up two Arctic Cooler's for my 7900's next week. I like them for their performace, low noise, affordability, and they exhaust hot air outside the case. I wouldn't pay $50 for a HSF, especially when I have SLI. $100 for coolers is rediculous.

Don't get a 50$ heatsink for a 100$ card (6600GT)...it's not worth it. The VF-700Cu is good enough for a card like 6600GT.

Does the VF900 have a lower profile than the NV Silencer?? If so I think I might try one. I need all the extra room I can get

There isn't a VGA Silencer for the 7900 series, is there?

The Zalaman VF's (700, and 900s) work just fine with them.

You guys/gals know it's been for sale @ heatsinkfactory for 3 weeks now, right?

Yeah, but it's on Newegg now, and thats what matters :D. :p It's also $1 cheaper on the egg. :p

I'm seriously considering biting on this. I'm really on the fence to ordering the X1900 XT within the next day or so. I have the X850XT PE (agp) now and I'm getting a little tired of the leaf blower. If I do decide to bite the bullet, I'll definitely have this thing installed before I even install the card for the first time.

There is no Silencer version for either the 7900 or X1900 series; the new coolers are called the Accelero X1 and X2, respectively, and do not vent the heat out of the case...unfortunately. The current NV Silencer 5 model has to be modded to make it fit on the 7900 as well.

All you have to do is shorten the plastic exhaust, which I'm plenty capable of doing. As long as it cools good and is quiet it doesn't bother me...except for vioding the warranty.

I wonder if I can fit this in my SN25P for my new X1900XTX. This thing gets in the upper 80s under full load. Hmm...

Probably have to dremel the drive cage a bit to fit this in the SN25P. I'm not sure how good this will work in that case though, since its just going to blow hot air at the card.

Compared to the stock 7900GTX cooler, this is a downgrade.

Otherwise, I'd get one.

Compared to stock its a downgrade....your looney. Zalman makes the best cooling and the quietest. So you get 2 features that are great.

The stock coolers on the 7900GTX's and 7800GTX 512's are superior to the Zalman VF700 and I'd even say to this VF900.

While I do not have hardline data to support this, I bet through testing you will see that my assumption is correct.

I am basing my statement on two facts: 4 heatpipes and a larger surface area on the stock 7900GTX, with a dual speed fan. Also, the heatsink cools the memory chips.

Zalman VF900 is a dual heatpipe design with what appears to be less surface area for cooling.

Well I have my vf900 and ill be getting my eVGA 7900GTX EGS as soon as they start sending them out again..still in the que for step-up...I'll be glad to let you guys know how it performs on a gtx.

That VF900 drastically outperforms the Arctic Cooling. Plus, Arctic Cooling seems to be developing a reputation with their fans dying. I myself just lost a 9800 Pro due to the VGA Silencer.

I'm starting to lean towards the Zalman, $50 is still too high. Maybe for Easter I can get them.

Directron has them too... so I am just going to drive over to the store and get one friday...

(5 dollars cheaper too)

I'll most likely pick one of these up tommorrow or so for a personsal birthday present. I read a review with an EVGA 7800GT N17, that's the card I have so at least I know it fits. Cools damn well too.

No it won't since you've got an eVGA card. eVGA is the only mfg that lets you replace the cooling and not void your warranty, all they ask is that you reinstall the stock heatsink if you are sending it in for RMA.

and much uglier and larger.

They feel and install cheap... I thought I was going to break the mounting bolts. The vf700's mount is rock solid, and I feel like the HS is making full contact with the GPU.

Warranty on the coolers, not the videocard

Here is what I dont like about the VF900. Since its 50 dollars. you buy a 7900gt for around 330 for a good one and then a VF900 for 50 dollars then you have a card for 380 with really good cooling but at this point then you are only 50 dollars away from an x1900xt which is noisier by far but you have to admit is a much better performer. Plus, I really like the idea of venting hot air outside your case. I think this is a really good idea.

50 bucks is small bananas compared to the price of this rig when I built it. I am about to buy two, one for each of my GTs. Besides, looking at some of the logic you guys present (300 for a card + 50 for a HSF = 350 for a card [why not just buy a 400 dollar card?] ) means that the HSF is free after the dust settles... that is... looking at your logic.
