OK, I am trying to install windows 7 64 on a velociraptor 300GB sata II drive. It is the only hard drive in the computer, and I am doing this on an i7 X58 system. I have tried the intell SATA II ports and the marvell SATA III ports. I have tried raid, ahci, and ide mode. Every time I get to the windows 7 install screen it says no drive found.
The drive is detected in the bios.
Also when in windows installer if you choose load driver and search for a driver, the drive shows there???? heres a picture may make more sense.
Why does the drive show here as the C: drive, but doesnt show in the installer that I can install windows on it?
This is what i get every time.
Is there a driver I need to load, i must have installed windows a 100 times on this machine and have never needed drivers before.
I did put this drive in my other machine, and it detected it. I reformatted it because it used to be part of a raid 0 config. After reformatting in the other PC, it was detected and showed in that machine as a drive. I then shut that PC down, and moved it back to the x58 machine, to try to reinstall on it and am still having the same issue.
