Not even equal. Between a 1070 and 1080, but drawing way more power and spewing way more heat.

The smell of failure is in the air with all this "no livestream, no benchmark, no FPS counter, please don't ask us for any details about this product, leave us alone" style of AMDmarketing.. It's enough to make you sick. I'm throwing up right now.

I believe you on the 31, no doubt. But I can't replicate 35 mh with even faster memory clock. Would love to to get it. But I thought little over 32 was as good as it gets with memory at +700

If the leaked prices are real, and are meant to compare MSRP to MSRP with NVidias, without a mining adjustment, then

Vega 56 has to be better than 1070.
Vega 64 has to be better than 1080.

Because even AMD knows that can't get the $/Perf as NVidia.
 
yeah im surprised the costing isnt there this time around... they had success with the polaris launch being at a decent price and value.

are these 100% confirmed pricing #'s?

each rig I'm running I'm getting 205mhs so each card is getting around that. Check your drivers, I haven't updated drivers since 382.52

The pricing for Vega looks reasonable. If I had a Freesync monitor I would be interested in one. It looks like AMD is back in the game, at least until Volta arrives. I have said it before, I will say it again, Volta will be the death blow for AMD RTG. Navi is still a year and a half away, tack on a few delays and we're looking at 2019. Unless AMD really focuses on efficiency in their design they are going to wind up in a really tough spot. Efficiency allows them to squeeze that much more performance into the same power envelope, it's really crucial. The cooling solutions have their limits. We're seeing Vega really require water cooling even so it won't throttle at stock speeds, never mind overclocking.

It seems as though every time AMD says they are working on a completely redesigned chip, we wind up seeing something with very similar characteristics to GCN. I'll bet if they scaled Tahiti to the current node it would perform almost identically to what we are seeing now out of Vega. Tahiti is almost six years old at this point, an eternity. Revolutionary for its time, sure, but it's now 2017.

No, GTX 1080 price for GTX 1080 performance, with way worse power consumption and heat output. Forget about overclocking. An overclocked GTX 1080 will destroy Vega.

Vega looks good for people with Freesync monitors. AMD is probably having yield/production issues so they can sell them at this price for now until there is more widespread availability. I expect some insane Black Friday deals on some of the Vega cards. We will hopefully see something similar to what happened with the Radeon 290 cards when they sold for under $200USD, an insane bargain at the time.

So.. genuinely you don't know VEGA it's yet another GCN modification? as it was Polaris,as it was Fiji,as it was tonga as it was Hawaii?all derivatives from GCN on Tahiti? Yeah.. they are all the same with small adjustment from "gen" to "gen"..

You are assuming from where that Vega is a new architecture?
 
I strongly suspect that you are correct that an overclocked 1080 will beat an overclocked Vega 64. A 1080 boosting at 2050 core should beat a Vega boosting at 1700 core.

They want $600 for the water cooled version. The FE watercooled with the same pcb barely competed with the 1080. The air cooled was 10-15% below the 1080.

I've had real good luck with MSI 1070 Gaming X 8G, most of the cards seem to do 700+ on memory, really need proper cooling at that point, or a water cooled loop....

Think they also have the faster Micron memory, have to check that later and get back with you.
 
So other then Vega FE benchmarks, has anyone leaked any of the RX Vega benchmarks? When do the reviews come out? I know Kyle has that blind test which was good, but did he comment on anything about performance?

I love the overclocked gtx 1080 part. When in reality all gtx 1080 boost to almost 1800 or so on core out of the box. They all max out at about 1950-2000 average depending on game. So in reality gtx 1080 is not a great overclocker compared to Maxwell. Only because it is really boosting beyond specs out of box.

The aftermarket cards with good air cooling will probably be just as good as the water cooled version, for the same price as the GTX 1080.

Well, you still have to max out the power and temperature sliders to get the most out of any Pascal card, I would say you will easily gain about 10-15% just by doing that. Then you can tack on a little more than that by overclocking the core and the memory. Out of the box you're looking at around 1700mhz sustained boost speed compared to around 2000mhz overclocked and fully unleashed. So overclocking can gain you about 15%. Not to mention the memory. That's better than you will get out of an AMD card, with much better power and thermals.
 
Wow, just freakin wow. If I was Nvidia Pascal 2.0 would be out on the more efficient process in September as 1170 for $329 and 1180 for $499 2Ghz stock on 12Gbs DDR5X like they did with 900 series. Keep Volta in the back tuning it. Maybe a 1160 too at $229-49 but that would be it. This has to be a joke. Great, going to have a Ryzen cpu with a Geforce card. mumble mumble.....

I don't see how they can be back in the game. This is 14 months too late everyone who wanted or needed to upgrade has upgraded by now except diehard AMD people and the numbers show they are a pretty small group.

I don't get this response. I don't see any issue with using a NVIDIA card with an AMD CPU or an Intel CPU with an AMD GPU. It seems silly to act like one has to go all team red or whatever. I always pick the best performance for whatever I can afford.

I think for about a week nVidia had issues with Ryzen and latency but nVidia fixed it very quickly as far as I know.

This is not the same Radeon group. They are lacking resources and funding! Ryzen got it all last few years. If Navi is nothing new then likely AMD will sell RTG off and stick to CPU business. I expected Vega to be at best 1080ti using more power, no doubt! But if you expected vega was going to beat the crap out of pascal and compete with volta with like 3rd of budget, likely less. Then really you set yourself up for disappointment.
 
Well as I stated over a year ago, its going to be hard to go up against Pascal with GCN or any modification of it.
 
BTW grapevine says no AIB coolers for Vega 64, only reference designs, don't know if its true, so rumor with salt.

Joker is just stupid, though. He did an interview with Steve (GamersNexus) right after Ryzen's launch and completely embarrassed himself. It was like watching Stephen Hawking debate a toddler about physics.
