Vega Rumors

Not your noobiness in mining.

Right now I'm getting 10-15 bucks an day for the past week/2 weeks on my 1080ti, my 1070 rigs, 30-50 bucks a day (5 bucks to 8 bucks a card in the last 2 weeks). Its crazy mining, actually the last rx 580 rig I have I'm getting around 25 bucks a day on ETN. Now if I was capable of using cast XMR on 6 cards stability, I would be getting around 28 bucks a day. But Cast XMR over 3 cards, just is NOT stable.
Those are some stellar rates! Feel more nooby now. I think your programming experience is coming through here. Anyways having a fun time configuring way different cards - will be experimenting with a 7970 (for fun) shortly.

I do test runs on different pools and find out which one is most profitable, then set up awesome miner to do pool switching and multi-mining (nemos miner isn't supported by awesome miner, so ya gotta set it manually in awesome miner, which is a pain in the ass), no real programming needed, ya just have to run the tests daily, which is kinda of a pain takes an hour a day......

There are some other hacks I can do, like fooling the stratum, but its really not fair to the other miners in a stratum pool, so I don't do that.

Oh forgot to add, autoswitching pools, ya need to have enough miners to do this, cause different pools means they can't accumulate enough BTC to payout quick enough if ya don't have enough miners in their payout times.

Another factor - Nvidia is keeping up with the demand, also holding prices in check due to they have their own store with cards at MSRP available. Tempted to get a 1080 Ti FE for $699 at Nvidia basically for mining. Seeing the contortions that some go through to get AMD cards to mine well is disappointing. Today each 1070 was out-mining my Vega 64 (over double the $/day), of course I believe it is my noobness as the culprit but then again I am having zero issues getting the hashrate with Nvidia hardware, no special drivers, weird registry entries, restrictions on what one can do etc. The big HBM driven Vega chip should be killing a 1070 - I am just having zero success pushing the Vega 64 - will try multiminer Sunday or Monday to see if I can get it where it should be.
just found out that vega can run 2 threads. Adds quite a bit of H/s power.

Its not 2 threads, its fp16, it does add quite a bit of H/s but only for specific algo's, like electroneum, but it doesn't do anything with power, right now Vega does well but I still get more than Vega with 1080ti all of it as the same power levels.

See what I'm saying, AMD can't touch this level of profitability, these are the MOST profitable algos right now just have to find the pool that gives ya the best return. Also this pic is at the low end, the last two days has been a bit lower. I have seen it go up to as high as 19 bucks a day on a 1080ti.

Now at 5:32 the 1080ti is doing 17 on Nist5 and 16.5 on Lyra2RE2.

How do you do that?

Ethereum rates I get the following:
Nano - 24.6mh/s
290 - 27mh/s (yep, beats out Fuji)
1070 - 30mh/s
1080 Ti - ? (did not bench)
Vega 64 - 40mh/s (does do better than the 1080 Ti $/day using same miner but other coins come out ahead with the 1080 Ti)

Razor is right, the more profitable algorithms are by far do better on Nvidia hardware. Using Awesome Miner and Mining Pool Hub I saw the 1080 Ti pull in around $9/day max, normally around $6. Vega 64 is around $4/day. Looks like I need to do some pool shopping and get better rates.

Are there miners out there that can leverage the half precision rate on Vega 64? Where can I get them?

The only ones I know of that uses half precision is Claymore Cryptonight and Cast XMR. Cast does a bit better than Claymore but it has stability issues above 3 cards so I'm stuck with Claymore.

Actually Claymore doesn't have it, only Cast XMR that's why it can get 2000mhs with Vega!

Just as I stated in the other thread I am not even close to being at all knowledgeable in the cryptocurrency field. However with Monero using XMR-Stak and on 17.12 driver (not block chain, I originally had it setup in the traditional setup using one instance on my Vega. But reading another guys setup http://vega.miningguides.com/ he shows it and how he set it up. I missed it the first read, very noob here.

normal setup every other card apparently uses, he states this:

gpu_threads_conf" : [
// gpu: gfx900 memory:3920
// compute units: 64
{ "index" : 0, "intensity" : 2016, "worksize" : 8,
"affine_to_cpu" : 14, "strided_index" : true
},
],
This was my original setup. Gave me about 1.2kH/s @ 100-120W [1130core@.890V/1100 HBM]

But after reading that link above tried this:

gpu_threads_conf" : [
// gpu: gfx900 memory:3920
// compute units: 64
{ "index" : 0, "intensity" : 1600, "worksize" : 8,
"affine_to_cpu" : 14, "strided_index" : true
},
{ "index" : 0, "intensity" : 1600, "worksize" : 8,
"affine_to_cpu" : 14, "strided_index" : true
},
],

This gave me about 1.35kH/s @ 110-130W [1150core@.910V/1100 HBM]. (At the wall power is 250W(first config)-260W(2nd config) using 4 corers @100W leaving the remainder for GPU, memory, board, drives and what not. HWinfo64 shows GPU total chip power as 91W-103W but of course that isn't total GPU usage.) And oddly enough the voltage sets itself upon starting and doesn't want to set the same thereby explaining why I went 1150core rather than same settings, although core doesn't seem to matter too much with this setup.

I used 1600 intensity because my 21:9 is plugged into my Vega and the 1800 he recommends causes some hitching when I attempt to use my PC. Prob not a huge Hash loss as he state a decreace of ~200 intensity is only about 2H/s loss.

Again for anybody else reading this I know precious little in regards to mining, so don't beat me up too much if I state something wrong or miss some obvious point a miner might know.

oh sorry mistook what you stated earlier, 2 threads on the CPU! Ok that makes sense!

Well doesn't matter what ya do with profitability with Vega vs the 1080ti, the 1080ti is just more right now, might change in the future, no one knows the future of these small coins ;). But if anyone is cashing out coins as they mine, Vega isn't the way to go right now. ETN, the one rig I have mining it, I'm saving those coins, if they go up great. If not, still make the same amount as selling them out right lol.

Oh since we are on mining, I have found NO DRIVER other than the blockchain driver good for AMD and mining, with multiple cards, I don't know why that is, the release drivers just don't work well with mining, its fuckin disappointing too, cause I want to use these cards as compute only and it should give another 10% performance, can't get that going, I get all sorts of errors, everything from display errors to miner crashes.

No I meant on the GPU. Look at the second quote. The two lines create 2 threads on my one GPU each with intensity of 1600. The guy states that Vega is the only one to do this. I cant say one way or the other and not sure if it is just the XMR that does this if all other mining can also. He states getting north 2kH/s and again not sure how that correlates in the world of other GPUs. All I have installed is my LC Vega64 and was just ecstatic to get the Watts so low. Thus far looks to be about $4 per day with electricity total being $.75 per day so not too bad if it stays consistent.

hmm interesting, think that is RPM at work though, but anycase, 4 bucks a day is good, but still lower than what Pascal is getting right now, I'm getting almost double that on my 1070's right now.

Hell I am just happy to be getting something.

you should be able to get more though, try cast xmr, @180 watt you should be able to get close to 6 bucks a day after power.

If ya need help PM me I'll walk ya through the batch file and what not.

Well that does give options for mining coins at an increase rates, not for change out now but for future potential holdings keeping your hot stashed safe in a wallet. This is getting complicated and more time consuming as well.

Thanks! - I will skip most of that but the miner itself I can test out.

I just use an encrypted ledger to save all my wallet infos as back ups, and use an encrypted laptop ;), cheap one, doesn't need to be expensive.
Cheap coins like electorneum, I'm sending straight to my exchange, if they start going up or they have something special coming up that would be worth holding on to, I put them into an offline wallet too.

yep, another thing I have to look into and definitely do (so much for gaming lol).

Just be safe then sorry, cause things like what happened to Nicehash do happen, Nicehash was stupid shit too, wtf would a developer have account info on their computer? I mean come on man, that is the stupidest shit I have every heard, the hack would be so easy to pull off too. Damn if I knew these exchanges are doing shit like that, I would hack em, just for the hell of it lol. Seriously sucks for the people that lost a lot of money, I lost 2k or so cause I withdraw my earnings fairly quickly. But I'm sure others have lost much more than that. All because of lax security. The one thing we expect banks and definitely online institutions to take the upmost care to avoid. I will never use nicehash again lol unless they give me an option to withdraw without any damn fee increases at any time! And they have to pay back the money they lost too.

I lost about $900 at the time, since then Bitcoin went up further so more now. Live and learn and hopefully quickly at that. Now I was going to take that money (once it reached $1000) and start investing in penny stocks, I mean other coins to play around with that part of Cryptocurrency. Well that went out the window rather quick.

that sux man, I know you only have like 3 rigs mining, so 900 bucks is a lot!

no that's mining on a 6 gtx 1070 rig lol

They are back down to 55 bucks a day now, but for one hour it was giving me 140+ bucks a day. I've seen this happen quite frequently even on Nicehash, I have gotten over 100 bucks a day on 6 cards, for sustained periods of time up to 6 hours sometimes.

it is, and we were talking about Vega mining, but this is why mining on AMD cards is going to die next year, these coins don't mine well on AMD cards and they are damn profitability. Not on this, there is NO multi miners for AMD cards, I am not sure why that is, I think the lack of optimized Open CL miners for different coins..... There is a serious drought and people aren't working on these types of programs for AMD cards nor are pools even interested in supporting such a product right now. All multi mining pools that are capable of using a multi miner only support Cuda based miners.......

Now you may think this is great for AMD cause they will actually have stock of cards next year so gamers can buy, its not good. Cause you are going to see a FLOOD of AMD cards going to ebay. nV even with the mining crazy going on right now, are still able to get enough cards out to support both mining and gaming markets.

Whats going to happen? AMD is going to loose a big chuck of market share, again. nV is going to capitalize on this and with all the second hand AMD cards coming to ebay, is going to further drop AMD's potential to sell refreshed products, we know they aren't releasing a "new" architecture next year already........

The only safe haven AMD has right now in cryptocurrancy mining is XMR and that is good and all, but that can't hold up to this type of profitability, people mining those coins need to hold on to them for them to mature. This is what I'm doing with my ETN, I can mine 300 coins a day on one rig, just mine it and keep it aside. Great its worth 23 bucks a day right now. But if ETN goes up in the future to lets say 1 buck, I end up making a ton more money. I have to be betting on this though. It might not move at all....... It might go down...... I don't know. The driving forces for these XMR base coins are not visible like what is going on with the other alt coins. You can see a direct correlation with Bitcoin's swings and profitability of the other alt coins.

The reason why this other alt coins are so profitable is because of the Bitcoin craze.

We already see with Titan V, Eth mining on AMD is pretty much dead now, coming next year. The difficulty of Eth will double with Volta or Ampere cards and if Eth doesn't increase price according to the increase of difficulty and the payout per share amounts, Polaris and Vega will really suffer.

Is XMR Monero worth anything? Looks like Vega is strong there.
https://wccftech.com/amd-rx-vega-64-mining-performance-blows-away-titan-v-xmr-monero/
Sadly, I've already maxed out what power I can use at my place (with 6 1060s power limited) so I don't have the option of building another rig.

Electroneum is the most profitable cryptonight coin right now, XMR is also cryptonight, its close though. There are also other cryptonight algo's out there that are close too.

I am pulling a razor1 and hording the coins rather than autopayout to BTC. I'll switch them over manually when the coins spike.

I know this is sort of off-topic (well most of this thread is off-topic) but I recently cashed out the ETH I've been mining to pay off my investment, and I've more than broke even after 6 months.

Sold at $711, which got me around $3,300, paying for the rig ($2,400), 6 months of electric ($600), and a few extra hundred in profit.

I know I could have held for a bit longer, but I like the idea of paying off the hardware for sure. Now, I can't lose.

Pretty much what I did, I only cash out for my electrical costs which end up around $3500 for all my rigs, and I stash the rest. Either as BTC, ETH or ETN, the XMR I had I converted over to BTC. LTC is weird, I can't get a read on it and why its going up, so I don't invest in it much. I just got my Dash Miners in last week, so I'll be doing Dash too now.

Ever add up your teraflops (petaflops?) and compare it to the super computer list in 2010? It's pretty amusing.

Not on this, there is NO multi miners for AMD cards,

WTF there were a year or so ago when I last looked.. claymore IIRC ETH + LTC. TBH this is great news though, hopefully can get some affordable GPUs out for the masses now you lot aren't hoarding them all.
Volta will make those 1070s start to look long in the tooth too.

not dual mining, multi mining, mining for the most profitable coins with automatic switching.

The 1070's will still be profitable, they won't be doing the same coins as the Volta, that's all.
