Value build for gaming ?

Only thing I would change would be maybe going with a nvidia chipset as you mentioned gaming. If its within your budget, a 680i will do wonders in gaming. Also what did you have in mind for storage?
 
and yes. USE Arctic Silver 5, even when you are using the stock heatsink. It may not be a HUGE difference between the stock paste, but it's cheap and works. And if you're overclocking, it's that much more valueable.

Also, if you have any local computer stores that sell the Antec Silver paste, it's the SAME stuff made by the SAME people.

SLI is only worth it you're gaming at a 1920x1200 resolution and if there is no single card that can provide the performance you want. Also, remember that by the time you get that second card, if your planning on getting one card now, a second later, there will be a newer, probably slightly cheaper, single card that can outperform or at least on par with your planned SLI setup.

hmm AS5? how about the STG1 ? after reading some reviews, the non curing- brush on applicator makes it looks very attractive..and its only 5 bucks more :D ...... to celebrate my 30th B-day, i guess hehe
