I think this is new. I thought it WAS going to be a ps3 launch title (it seems like that was the belief in some forum posts here too.)

good news, this most likely means that the PC was their 1st priority and they didn't dumb it down for consoles! UT series rules.

we can only hope!

Epic is a good company in my book and I think they know their audiance.
*looks forward to UT2007 on low with no AA or AF* :p

If they would'nt have released it on PC first, I would've been shocked and somewhat dissapointed.

Prob cause the game will be ready before the PS3 will be out :) and cause Epic rules :d

WooHoo and it is Linux-Native

Love Epic.

THIS game is the reason for a complete rebuild (from scratch of my PC) pity I cant affort to do that till Sept this year at the earliest

great...people worried when they own a 7800gt. My x800xt probably will run it at 640/480.

UT2004 was wasn't too hard on older cards, though. Hopefully 2007 will be too. If not, I might be forced to upgrade. UT is the only game that holds my interest for any length of time.

The most visible technological improvements in UT2007 come from the move to Unreal Engine 3. Environments are now alive with rich shaders, and per-pixel lit. As such, a DirectX 9 compatible card is a must. Expect the minimum spec graphics card to be an NVIDIA GeForce FX or ATI Radeon 9700 level card. If you're looking for decent performance however, you'll need to aim a little higher. At E3 2005, Epic's Tim Sweeney suggested an NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra level card for decent frame rates at 1024x768 resolution.

aw crap! I play at 1440x900 and I have a 7800gt. Looks like I will be getting it for the Xbox360 (after a rental ofcourse, don't want another Quake4 episode)

Well i'm fine with 1024x768. And by the time 2k7 comes out i'll have my pro flashed to XT PE.

i LOOVE unreal tournament :) and epic is a great company. i doubt that it will be more demanding than fear...(who cares i have a 7800gt  :)

if you want to enjoy it is sure as hell will be, brand new egine and all! it is going to bring single CPU SLI systems to their knee's - dual core / cpu might be another story since it is coded for multi.

but - Epic will be smart and make it more compatible with lower hardware, unlike f.e,a.r

While i'm sure it won't hurt them any, kind of sucks for Sony to have to deal with sequals for the best PC title and Xbox (Halo 3) releases coinciding with their launch.

I'm *extremely* excited that it'll not only be coming to PC first, but that we'll also get a pre-release demo!

I'm a little worried about my Athlon 64 3000 and my 6800GT, and how they'll handle it. But I guess that's what overclocking is for. :p

It will be more demanding than F.E.A.R. Last I heard Epic is also going to make it Direct X 10. I think there are still going to be Direct X 9.0c extensions in it, but to get the full effect you need Direct X 10 and a Direct X 10 card. Thats where the G80 and whatever ATI is developing comes in.

I'm going to college next year and I've decided that I'm going to build an SFF system, but I'd like to know when the DX10 cards are gonna come out, I really wanna play UT2k7 to it's full extent. Anyone know anything about when dx10 cards will be released?

The G80 core that Nvidia is developing should be Direct X 10 capable and that is due next summer if it arrives on time and doesnt have any delays like the R520 did. Im sure ATI is working on on R620 or something along those lines also.

damn, those screen shots look insane

the thing i like about the ut engines is how they still consider performance, while at the same time they manage to make their engines with insane physics+graphics

I think I have more worries than any of you. *looks at 6600GT and cries*
:(

I look at my vanilla 6800 and cry. I knows it better than a 6600 GT but its not that much better sadly enough.
