So right now my main rig has 2x HD6870 cards that I run in crossfire.

I typically do not play the latest and greatest games. The most recent game that I play is Tomb Raider 2013. Other than that, Dead Island, L4D2, and Ultima Online.

I currently have $200 in amazon gift cards so I'm looking in the $200-300 range ideally. I might stretch it further should a deal show up or something.

I've been looking at the GTX760 and GTX770 series. What brand/model fits into that price range and whatnot? I kind of like the Gigabyte Windforce design with the 3 fans, but suggestions are welcome. am not against AMD, however I've heard that nvidia plays better with Linux (which I might be moving to down the road due to steam now being available on linux).

From what I've read, the GTX760 will perform pretty much the same as my crossfired cards, and the GTX770 blows my setup out of the water.
 
I'd say to go for it. Try selling your current cards here, or on eBay, and get a GTX 770. You might even end up with cash in hand along with the new card.

Just checked eBay, and 6870s sell for $90-120, with at least one recently selling for $140. Lulz

BTW, Metro: Last Light runs like a dream on Linux. There are a couple of occasional shader glitches that aren't in the Windows version, but it never crashed on me, and the frametimes seemed good. (Subjective opinion regarding the frametimes)

Regarding AMD cards, there aren't any really good values in your price range at the moment because LTC miners have strained the supply chain and subsequently driven up the prices of them.
 
I guess I keep falling back on... do I really go from a $250 GTX760 to a $350 GTX770?

From the games I play, I probably wouldn't see much benefit really. But obviously... it's tough to not want something that's better.

It runs like a dream because it's a fairly basic port of the PS3 version. It lacks a massive chunk of the advanced rendering features used in the Windows version (Sub Surface Scattering, Tessellation, and Parralax Mapping are all noticeably absent).
 
So anyone have any good suggestions at this point?

The Gigabyte Windforce GTX770 with the 4GB of ram listed above is catching my eye, but is 4GB really worth it?
 
No. Not enough memory bandwidth to matter is what I've read. 2gb is great.
 
I was reading up that if you have multiple monitors or go SLi, the 4GB is more worthwhile.
 
Down the road it would be nice since I've never tried. I use multiple monitors just for everyday stuff. sometimes multiple sessions of a game going on the different monitors.
 
If you can afford to buy two of a midrange card, you should just buy the next tier card instead. Unfortunately it's an awful time to buy graphics cards as prices are pretty high. If you can wait, I would recommend that. Otherwise a GTX 770 or R9 280X is the minimum you should be looking at; whichever gets closest to (or even under) $300 go for it.
 
Or should I lean towards something like an EVGA GTX 770 Superclocked with ACX Cooler 4 GB
 
Someone did a review of two 770's from Gigabyte, one 2 gig and the other 4 gig. There was no real difference in performance between the two. The only reason to get the 4 gig is for SLI.
 
And after looking at the warranties of EVGA and Gigabyte, they are the exact same.
