first of all Im a complete noob to audio systems and what not

my friend wants to use his pioneer sx-315 5.1 surround system for his computer

from the looks of things, his onboard sound doesnt seem to have anyway to connect to the reciever so i assume getting a pci sound card with the right interconnects should do the trick. Just came here if anyone had any specifics on how I should go about this.
thanks

depends on how you want to connect it, to get stereo all you need is a 1/8" ->stereo RCA cable. For surround or digital connection you'd need a soundcard with the correct connections to do so.

Pioneer does not support the Receiver anymore, so I can't find any good info on it.

If you want stereo sound, just pick up a 3.5" to RCA cable.

If you want surround sound, your receiver will need multi channel analog input, often called "extension input".
