• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

I know in the past, similar features have been discussed but I would like to bring it up again. In technology there are many different opinions on how to attack problems, it would be helpful to have a way to measure success. This forum is as much a help forum, or even more so, than a discussion forum, so I believe a user ranking system would improve the help portion. Part of the reason of the removal of post count was to put the focus on the quality of post, rather than quantity, so lets add another way to quantify the quality of post.

What I'm thinking is a system where users are allowed to rate post in the forum with likes or dislikes, which could either add or remove points from a user's score. The amount of likes or dislikes, of a particular post, would be displayed on the post. Each user's score would be displayed after their username.

I don't believe in hiding low ranked post but rather encourage people to read good ones. The reality is there is a lot of great advice here but also a lot of bad advice, so creating a ratings system may help users see who knows what they are talking about and who doesn't.

It's been brought up more than once and shot down each time. It gets into the fact that an open ratings system does more harm than good when you basically let the members decide the ranking of threads. Vindictiveness and pettiness pretty much rule the Internet.

The "user reputation" feature built into vBulletin was intentionally disabled by Kyle. I don't expect he'll enable any time soon.

Plus you get people who post popular things just to get points and circles of users giving rep to each other, making it completely useless in the long run. Just judge each post on its own merits.

Yup. It is nice and refreshing to have a clean and plain forum.

Another vbulletin board I frequent went nuts with the rep crap...even on a board of mostly adults...it became a quest to get the most negative rep just to make a joke of it.

Absolutely.... it becomes a joke, quickly. I like this board's clean setup, and simply judge people and their posts on their own merits. I do so elsewhere but many don't, and start bringing the whole "rep" silliness into their postings and style of posting.... it's tiresome.

Agreed.

I've been here long enough now to recognize many people and know that their advice is good or bad.
Hell, sometimes I'm even correct.

Rating this forum like Angie's list or Amazon would be just wierd.
