I have a abit SAR6 MB and Antec Overture. I plugged the case's USB wires to my onboard usb then plugged in my USB drive and windows said it was "unknown device" i left it in hoping it would figure it out.. then after a few minutes it got hot so i took it out. I put it in another computer and it wouldnt work :( Im returning the USB drive but how can i fix the ports so it works?

edit: it was a usb flash drive

xp should have recognised it...sounds like it was a bad pendrive

if it's still messed up when you get a new pendrive i would check usb voltages in your bios and make sure they are set too factory defaults. you should be able to do a google search for the correct voltages if they are manually set only

the drive worked in my main computer so i dont think there was a problem with it, ill check the volts thanks

You may not have gotten the USB wires connected properly. I would guess since the wires may not have been connected to the correct places, that it was putting the wrong voltages through the wrong wires and thus fried it. Doublecheck to make sure everything is hooked up properly. I would also check the motherboard around the plug to make sure nothing on the motherboard got too hot, fried or whatever.
