Well with classes about to start again I'm stuck without a USB drive for the time being...

I use to have a Corsair 8GB Voyager Mini, but it died on me within a month (and was lucky enough if I could even slide it into the USB port because the retracting port was garbage and kept sliding back into itself...). I was sent a replacement and even it died 2 weeks later, it's costing me more to send it back for a replacement than getting a new one. So Corsair is definitely a no-go.

So I was wondering can some of you recommend me... One that doesn't die within weeks of its first use and I'd also want to get something small and without a cap (retractable or something along those lines). 16GB would be preferred but would also maybe consider an 8GB.

i decided not to deal with flash drives, but to sync stuff to the cloud with my laptop, desktop. You will never misplace any data again

Dropbox is pretty good to test. 2-10GB for free accounts

I personally use JungleDisk. It can either sync to Amazon S3 Cloud or Rackspace, 256bit AES encryption, fast for me (college campus has wifi everywhere) $2-3 for 5GB, 15 cents per gb after

heh, with your keys dying so fast, it leads me to believe something is wrong with whatever you're pluggin them into rather than the keys themselves being problematic. anyhow, i use the cheapest i can find and have dozens laying around, lol. (usually the $5 or $10 flavor of the quarter from my last trip to MC)

as far as name brand keys, i have sandisk cruzer micros/minis and kingston T100 IIRC. my latest was the STT Duo Express 3.0 16GB from ewiz... super fast. i have disconnected systems (not connected to the internets, both at home and work) so i still use usb keys, especially for installing windows.
 
I'm sorry about your luck but it could have happened with any brand.

I have the Voyager and Voyager GT models and they are great drives.

I'm with Enginurd....maybe something else is going on rather than faulty drives.
 
Enginurd, You might think that, but with the first drive that was killed I was using that with my friends computer and a windows 7 usb install, and during that it failed... The other failed after being plugged into my HP Envy laptop just once (to see if it works), and again 2 weeks later to find out it doesn't...

Sandisk Cruzer certainly sticks out, I wish I still had my old 4gb that one worked great. Does anyone have any input on the Patriot Xporter XT (faster?) and HP 115 (very small)?
