Hey I was modding a USB controller for a case mod I was doing, and I was hoping to connect it to the USB header on my motherboard. Well, I look at the cable connection on the controller's PCB, and there are 5 wires that connect to the cable, but USB pinouts show that there are only 4 pins. There are two black wires, so I'm thinking that the extra one is used for the cable shielding? I peeled off a little heatshring that was on the end of the USB cable and it looked like the second black wire was connected to the cable shielding. If I wire the other four cables to my motherboard's USB headers, can I just leave the 5th wire unconnected, or should I connect it to something else?
