I need recomendation for psu, should I get Chieftec GPS 550w 101A or LC Power 6560 Titan 560w? If you can give an answer as soon as possible I must buy one today. Thanks.
Well you can say that it is like a desert island. Here in Serbia you can find all sorts of psu's but only in Belgrade, but in Nis where I am this two are my only option. Not to mention that I can buy Enermax or Tagan for 160 or more eur, but this two are about 75eur. So I won't be able to spend more money. Rest of psu's are more then horible, some chinese with mark on them saying 350-400w but realy some 100-120w, disaster, some JNC, Codegan and so on. In Belgrade you can find what you want Thermaltake, Coolermaster (here too but 400w is top) etc. You got my point? Are those two realy that bad? What is then your recomendation?
Chieftec models starting with GPS are possibly OEM Delta - very good quality. I'd want to make absolutely sure it's a Delta before buying it by doing a UL file number search on it if possible though. Especially if the price is low (if it looks too good to be true it probably is).
I think the LC is Shenzen Chi Yuan - they're the only OEM I know who builds them that odd looking inside. Looks ok, but I'd still put anything Delta makes above it. Now if only I could find a review of the Chieftec to make sure it's Delta...
Here is some text lifted from their english language page:
"Furthermore, if you want to order from a country not listed above, you can still place your order using our website at www.alternate.de. In this case, you will need to select your desired country in the address pulldown menu. Please note, however, that once you have sent us your order using the "Order now" function, the order has NOT yet been placed! An exactly calculated offer including all costs, for example sales tax / VAT and shipping fees, will be sent to you as quickly as possible."
Serbia isn't one of their listed countries, but it might be in their address menu as they say. Placing the order might be tough however since it will all be in German
After comparing that LC review with the Terasan review of the Evergreen, I think I'll call the LC a Shenzen Chi Yuan unit. Build quality looks good, but not great. I'm not comfortable recommending it by pics alone, but I have seen worse.
Ok, both are sli ready, dual core ready, some 550-560w but what is more important:
Chieftec: max out - 550w; +5V - 26A; +3.3V - 28A; +12V1 - 18A; +12V2 - 18A; +12V3 - 18A; -12V - 0.5A; +5Vsb - 2A; PFC - Active; 1x12cm fan
LC Power: max out - 560w; +5V - 40A; +3.3V - 35A; +12V1 - 18A; +12V2 - 18A; -5V - 0.5A; -12V - 0.8A; +5Vsb - 2A; PFC - Active; 1x14cm fan
what is better more A on +5 and +3.3 reils or 12V 1,2,3...?
I'm going to say go for the Chieftec... I don't know SCY well enough to recommend the LC. Don't like the high 5v rating on it - tells me it may be an old design adapted for modern 12v oriented rigs.
Delta, on the other hand, is one of the best on the planet; and I think there's a 90% chance you're getting one in that Chieftec. Both the model number and rail distribution look like Delta to me. If you do grab one though, innards pictures are welcome.
Ok, tell me in modern rigs you don't need to have more A on 5V reil or 3.3V? Isn't 3.3V for cpu and 5V for mobo and ram? correct me please, I am asking you Now, tell me why do you call LC Power SCY isn't that a German psu?
I have one more question, it seems that I can get OCZ PowerStream 520w fok the same money like Chieftec GPS 550w, some 75eur. In comparation:
Chieftec: max out - 550w; +5V - 26A; +3.3V - 28A; +12V1 - 18A; +12V2 - 18A; +12V3 - 18A; -12V - 0.5A; +5Vsb - 2A; PFC - Active; 1x12cm fan
OCZ: max out - 520w (620w for 60sec); +5V - 40A; +3.3V - 28A; +12V - 33A; -12V - 0.5A; -5V - 0.5A; +5Vsb - 2A; PFC - Active; 2x8cm fan
OCZ have only one 12V reil but have adjustable volts, what now? Which one and why? Please explain to me, thanks.
If the Powerstream is the SLI model with the blue fan, go for it. If not, I think I would stay with the Chieftec - the early green fan 520W models had regulation issues and a higher failure rate than the later SLI models.
OCZ is with a green fan, but it has 2 EMI shielded Molex Connections for Hard Drives or Graphics cards, but I haven't seen anywhere some sli mark, definently it is but nowhere to be read. It is 2005 model, nice reviews all over the net but I want to hear your opinion.
