I'm looking into a UPS for my system. Specs are in the sig. Post if you have questions.

Basically i'm looking for a budget UPS, doesn't have to be expensive (although i know it will be -_- ), it just needs to get the job done for my sytem.

You're probably drawing around 540W, at full load, for that system, including monitor (no speakers); 450W without monitors. So, an 800-900VA should be fine, or if you don't want your monitors on, then a 750VA.

I would estimate more like 350-375W from the wall without monitors, conservatively.

That would be sufficient. If I were you though, I'd leave only one of the monitors plugged into the UPS.

This is one case that supports the bigger the better idea. The one you pointed out on the egg will work but probably only give you just enough time to shut down.

Shop around a bit, CC is selling good stuff cheap at the moment, at least until they are gone. My local store has the APC 1300 with the pretty meters and much higher capacity for about 30 bucks more and that unit has a much nicer power cleaner and better surge protection.

Man, I know some gear is going up in price but try CC or your local Omax or Staples first. It seems like every Sunday one of those stores has APC for very low prices just to get you in the door;)

No. Stay away from standby UPS'es (read more) and stick with a line-interactive unit. If I had $100 to spend on a UPS then I would consider the CyberPower 850AVRLCD.

Dollar for dollar what you linked is a far better deal. I know CyberPower had some issues early on, hopefully the took care of all that.

I try to use Leibert when ever possible but for $100.00 that's not going to happen, unless you find a major recycle place. I picked up an older 1500 VA unit for $45.00 5 years ago and it's going strong on the batteries that were in it.

Good thought on the Cyber tho, nice find;)

We don't have an Omax. Maybe i could drive a bit to the microcenter. I work at Staples and we do have some pretty nice deals but I don't see any better then ones I see on newegg. Maybe i'll find a nice one on clearance. I just want one that will help me avoid a nasty shutdown due to lack of power. All I need time to do is shut down really. Would it shut it down automatically for me if i wasn't home or would it basically give me a timer saying I have "x" minutes, do what i need to do and shut it down.?

Ok, a retail dude:p

Black Friday isn't very far away and UPSs are great promo pieces. I'd wait;)

A used pink bathrobe. A rare mint snowglobe. A Smurf TV tray I bought on Ebay. Oh, and a Liebert GXT2-1500 w/ batteries for $99.

Should be fine but don't expect tons of uptime. These UPSes you guys are linking are low-end, even the APC ones. I'd much sooner recommend a used Liebert GXT2 or an APC SmartUPS (from Ebay or elsewhere) as long as they have good batteries (or the price is so good that you can buy new batteries).

Oh defintely not for uptime, just to have it auto shutdown and protect agaisnt voltage irregulation etc

That's just wrong man. A visual of you sitting in your pink bathrobe holding a snow globe killed any thought of eating dinner:p

Worse was the thought of the globe on the Smurf TV tray plus you in the robe...there went breakfast;)

Figure about 7 ~ or a bit more up time and yes, with the software and cable installed it will do a safe shutdown:)
