I need a UPS to regulate the power to the computer so that I stay secure incase some volatage crappyness is cause for recent issues I have been having. Whats a good brand ? model? How big of a bite is supposed to a purchase of a UPS supposed to have on my pocket ? Thanks for suggestion ...

Just stick with APC... If you don't need more than like 8-10 minutes of uptime, then one of their cheaper 500VA models will be okay... If you want like an hour, then get a Smart UPS 1000VA or so.
