My goals are to put a little more power into my box. Was looking to upgrade my video card from a Radeon 5770 to a 7850, but I need a new motherboard for that card. Would I be well served to upgrade my processor at the same time, or is that not as much of a bottleneck? Also any recommendations regarding motherboards would be well appreciated. Any help in this arena would be much appreciated, as I'm trying to improve performance but still only have so much money to spend on luxury. Thanks again, guys.

What motherboard and RAM do you have now?
Any chance that you can wait until June-July for the CPU + mobo + possible RAM upgrade?

Yeah you're basically looking at new RAM as welll since that RAM is rated at 1.65V. That's well above the recommended 1.5V for Intel CPUs.

Well if you can wait until Intel releases their new Haswell CPUs in June-July, I would highly recommend that route. You're looking at a new CPU + mobo + RAM, so might as well get the latest and fastest. So set aside $350 to $400 for the CPU + mobo + RAM.

In the meantime though, you can upgrade the GPU now and no, you don't need to upgrade the motherboard for a new card. PCi-E 3.0 is backwards compatible with PCI-E 2.0 and there's isn't a noticeable performance difference between the two anyway for most situations. Now while your current CPU may limit the performance of a HD 7850 2GB, I'd still recommend a HD 7850 2GB since you will be able to get the full power out of it once you upgrade the CPU + mobo + RAM. You should still see a decent performance increase with the HD 7850 2GB even with that AMD CPU.

No you won't need to upgrade your PSU. That PSU is more than enough power.
