Hello there. Well I'm thinking to upgrade my pc and I need some help choosing some of the parts.

For now I was thinking to upgrade MB, CPU and RAM, this is what I got in mind but open to any suggestions for cheaper/better components.

MB: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO(176,80 €) or ASUS P8Z68-M PRO(134,30 €)*
CPU: i5 2500K(202,10 €)
RAM: CORSAIR KIT 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ VENGEANCE(CL9) (43,80 €)

* - Are those 42,50€ extra worth, between those two MBs?

I currently have a NOX URANO 500W power supply and I'm wondering if this is enough for that and a new graphic card that I'm buying after this.

Btw is it worth to wait for Ivy-bridge to come out?

Thanks in advance. :)

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Well a bit of everything, video encoding, CAD, but MOSTLY gamming
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
450€, yes
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
Portugal (Europe)
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
MB, CPU, RAM
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
NOX URANO 500W and all the others
6) Will you be overclocking?
yes/no (will in the future with a better power supply)
7) 7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
22'' 1680x1050
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Dez/Jan
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
no need for anything in specific, but the more the better :p
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes, Win7 64bit

Just get the vanilla P8Z68-V instead of the PRO. The PRO only adds the extra 2 SATA 6GB ports (on the Marvell controller), and 1394 - so unless you need those two things save the money.

Not worth waiting for IB, in my opinion - no hard release dates yet, and not a dramatic improvement in performance. 500W is on the low side, depending on the video card you intend to buy, and that's assuming a good 500W PSU, which I'm not sure the one you listed is.

I agree with forceman....take the money saved on the pro & get a better PSU and/or more memory :)

I recommend asking over in the Power Supplies subforum about your PSU. The only thing I think I know about that PSU is that it's Superflower built. But besides that, nothing else. So go ahead and ask in the PSU subforum if that PSU is decent.

ok, I'll do that :) And thanks everyone for the help

BTW does the MB has any problems fitting in a T40 Aerocool case?

EDIT: nvm it does.

So now that you know that you will need a new PSU and a new case, is your budget still the same or are you planning on increasing it to accommodate the new PSU and new case?
