Recently bought Civilization V and my computer's performance is pretty bad even at low settings. My computer is over 2 years old and having looked at the recommended requirements (see below), my cpu seems to be the main problem. I've never upgraded a computer before so I have a couple of questions.
1. How important is upgrading the motherboard? Should I bother upgrading mine or is it fine as long as it has what I need?
2. What processor(s) should I consider? I mainly just play Starcraft 2 and now Civilization V. I don't really play any other games although I do some video editing occasionally. I haven't had problems with video editing with my current processor though. Render times aren't great, but not terrible.
Civ 5 Recommended System Requirements
Processor: 1.8 GHz Quad Core CPU
Video Card: 512 MB ATI 4800 series or better, 512 MB nVidia 9800 series or better
Memory: 4 GB RAM
My PC
Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 260
Ram: Crucial Ballistix Tracer 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (Mixed reviews about this one)
