I think you missed what I was asking. At what level of a GPU would PCIe 3.0 x16 be held back. A RTX4070? RTX4080? RX7900XTX? RTX4090?

Thanks for the link. Ya seems even with the mighty 4090 PCIe 3.0 vs. 4.0 x16 makes very little difference.

I would like to know how they even got a 4090 to run 1.1 or 2.0, I remember 1.1a being used because 1.1 couldn't even feed the Nvidia 8800GT back in the day without overclocking PCIe to like 101 -2Mhz

I'm running a 7900xtx on a x470 with PCIe 3.0 and my performance seems to be in line with what it should be, I researched before buying the card and the article linked above was what convinced me it shouldn't be an issue.

I give the little shit all 120watts on power slide, clocks are stock and it is in PCIe 4 with SAM on
