this is my current configuration, what can be done? I think my CPU is weak and I should go for a new one. Do you know what is the best one that can go with this motherboard and be at the power of the other parts. Or do you have a different opinion where should I focus my efforts. I don't want to tell a price range, cause I'm thinking about a reasonable upgrade, one that will be either just balancing the strong parts of the current configuration or upgrading all the parts with newer components that cost not much more but do a lot of power difference. Kind of like how when DDR2 and DDR3 came along and in one moment they were cheaper than the weaker DDR400...
 
What are you doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
If gaming, what games?
What PSU do you have?
What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?


If this is for gaming, you're looking at pretty much a new setup unless you're playing some really old games or have a small monitor.
 
gaming, and my monitor is on 1920 1080

and everyone's telling me to go all out, I guess I'll wait for a bigger budget...
 
As Danny asked, what games exactly are you planing to play?

You could get by with just a upgrade to the video card and hold out a while longer for new cpus coming out later this year/next year if you don't have the budget for it now.

At this point the best bet is to simply upgrade everything. I'd really like to know what the budget is for the build as I can't really recommend much without one. $1000 is the sweet spot for gaming builds.

Also, will you be recycling any old parts? (Case, Hard drives, optical drives, power supply)

Yeah you're looking at a new build no matter what unless you're just playing Angry Birds.

That CPU will hamper a lot of the newer GPUs these days. Considering the cost and performance of older Core 2 Quad CPUs, you're better off with a new CPU + mobo + RAM.

That video card is just plain old and weak.

If your PSU is as old as the rest of that system, you're gonna have to replace that as well.
 
yeah, yeah, I bouth it all 3 years ago for about 1000$ only the system (only the DVD ROM was from the old system). It's time for a new one.
