So I built my main gaming computer last year and its still kicking pretty well I've only had one stick of RAM go bad but aside from that no hardware problems. But I've been out of the PC market for awhile now and don't really know what's the best of what now.
Anyway the specs are:

AMD X2 4800 @ 2.59GHz (939)
8800GTS 320MB @ 650MHz, 900MHz (just upgraded that to play DX10)
ASUS A8N32-SLI Delux
4 WD Sata2 (2 sets of 2 running RAID 0) > 1TB
4 512MB Crucial Ballistix Tracers DDR500 @ 2-2-2-8
3D Mark06 score's are usually ~8700
and I can run Bioshock without too much lag, just at the intense graphic scenes there's a little.

So my question is Upgrade time??
Or is it not really worth it to upgrade?
 
What size monitor do you have?

It's not really worth it to upgrade right now. Your current rig should be fine for another 6 months or so. If you want some more performance for games, pick up an 8800GTX or something.

Also, what PSU do you have?
 
Upgrade when you need to.
ie when you arent satisfied with the performance.
 
The closer the time intervals between upgrades and the less you'll notice the performance increases.

Wait as long as you can, buy when you can't wait anymore.
 
Yeah as far as I can see the only real benefit I'd receive from an upgrade is DDR2 capability and 8GB worth of mem. But it does seem useless to upgrade cpu, mobo, and others just to get more memory...:confused: For the PSU I just picked up a 750w Thermaltake Toughpower w/4 rails so that should definitely last me even when I do upgrade. And I'm currently using a Dell 2504 @1920x1200. Right now the 8800GTX seems like it might be a waste of money...I'd rather just get another 8800GTS, overclock it, and run it in SLI. Like I said earlier, I run Bioshock with barely any hitches and so another GPU would definitely do it...(as far as I know.) Anyways thanks for all feedback1:D
 
A single GTX vs GTS in SLI is pretty much similar. The SLI GTS setup will slightly win, but not by much. I'd wait for the GTX/Ultra replacements, sell the GTS, then pickup the next gen card instead of another GTS. The single next gen card will most likely outperform two GTS' in SLI.
