Greetings my fellow SFF'ers. It's time for me to upgrade once again. I'm going to be selling my NF-M2, Opteron 1212 and 2gb G.Skill pc2 5300 to a friend of mine on Saturday, He's going to be throwing it into a MicroFly Bx6 along w/ an 8600gts. (Steve if you read this you should be getting an order for a Bx6, from me, within the next few days.) As far as I go, I'm going to be picking up the Biostar 690g, an X2 5600+ and 2gb Crucial pc2 8500. I'm pretty stoked about the upgrade. I decided to stray away from the intel camp because I'm gonna be putting together an Intel/Nvidia rig for my Dad, that I'll get play around with :D , as soon as he decides to order the parts. I'm gonna sit on the 5600+ until I can get my hands on a Phenom X4 and an AM2+ mobo. I started at EB Games on Monday, So I finally have my own source of income again. (I Haven't "Officially" had a job since Last August) I'd like to eventually throw a Raptor 150gb and an 2900xt in there. I'm also going to be ordering an Enzo-tech Ultra-X within the next few weeks as well as 4 x 80mm Nexus fans to replace the loud Arctic Fans in my Qmicra right now. I'm gonna try and oc the 5600+ to 3ghz, and maybe even further once I get the Ultra-X, though I don't it will go much higher than 3ghz. What's is your guys' take on my little upgrade?

Also, does anyone know when the Gigabyte p35 mATX is gonna come out, I'm thinking of putting that into my Dad's PC instead of the Foxconn g965.

I believe the P35 is coming out in June here in the US. It's already out in the Europe though.

Anyway, looks like you have this all planned out. I say go for it. BUT you should consider saving some money on those parts. You already know what it's like to be without a job and without a sources of income. So try to save some money on this build for a rainy day or something.

In the end It's only costing me about $50 out of my pocket to do the whole upgrade, so It's not too bad. I appreciate the feedback 40+ views, I'd hope for a good response sooner or later.

you should give your dad the qmicra rev.1, and get the rev.2 for your self so you can have better cooling for your oc.

Blue, I would highly recommend the Abit F-I90HD, C2D E4300 and an 8800GTS 640, later upgrade the E4300 to a Q6600 when the price drops in July.

I know alot of people have problems with the F-I90HD but I am now convinced it has somethbing to do with component incompadibility - as I sent my F-I90HD and Patriot ram to Biodune and he was not able to get it working (as well as 3 previous boards) When I got it back, it fired right up at 2.88ghz (9x320) OC at stock voltages and I'm posting from it currently!

Either way, I would still go with a $310 8800GTS 640 over a 2900XT

I may think about that, If it's around the same price. As far as the 2900xt goes, I'm probably gonna wait about a month, the prices are inflated because it's new and they offer you a "free" G5, that actually ends up raising the price. If the 8800gts 640 is still the better option in a few weeks I just may do that. That said If I were to go the F-i90 route, I'd end up with an e4400 or an e6420.

Also, The reason I was gonna go with the x2 5600, was because I was gonna drop an Phenom X4 in my system as opposed to the q6600.

Official launch of the G33M-DS2R is June 4th. Expect to see them that week if not that very day. Gigabyte has a list of authorized dealers on their website.

Dear Customer,

Our Authorized dealers already have this model in stock and ready. Due to the Intel's NDA, the official release date is June 4th.

Thank you for choosing Gigabyte products

Good Deal. I may throw that in my dad's pc. I would put it in mine but, I can't be without a pc, and I'm trading this weekend, so i90-hd it is for me.

Good luck, you're gonna need it!

We will see. I've been reading some reviews of the e4300/4400. I may still end up going for the x2 5600+, The Allendale is only slighty faster than the Windsor's from what I've read. I'd also rather not assume the risk of a dead-on-arrival or just dead F-i90.

Just make sure you use plastic washers or equivalent as to not short out the CPU mount to the MB ;)

Thanks for the tip. I take it you're warning me out of experience? :p

I haven't made that mistake yet.....but I did manage to take out my Gigabyte 965 mATX and an Audigy 2 ZS a while back from shorting out something on the MB (not sure what happened)
