Hello everyone,

I am looking to upgrade my system since i can no longer run some games.

I want to upgrade my motherboard, ram and cpu, video card. Everything else is good to go i just need those four things.

Questions is do i want to go intel or amd?

i was wondering if someone could help me weigh out permormace with cost.

giving an example of a ram mother board and cpu and video card combination that would fit best.

Well without a price limit, it's a bit hard to try to recommend parts. So it would help if you could provide a price limit on those four parts. Also some more questions:

- What kind of power supply do you have? You may have a power supply that won't be able to support your upgrade.
- What are the specs of your current system?
- What else are you planning to do with this system?
- What games are you planning to play on this system?
- What is the size of your monitor?
- What are the games you can't run right now?
 
im currently running a computer that is clocked at 2000 mhz 1 gig of ram ddr1 slow. and my power supply is 450-550 im not sure its the blue led demon one but its over 3 years old. The video card i am running is a powercolor radieon 128mb se

This computer would be mostly for games, i do watch movies and do project for school along with photo editing but mostly for games.

I will be making this system for starcraft 2 along with spore if it ever comes out and others...

I currently cant fear at all and Cs sorce at highest res doesnt work well either.

my monitor is a 19 inch flat screen viewsonic

sorry i am at work and cant get specs because my computer is over 3 years old and frankly i kind of forgot whats in it. ill look when i get home.
 
So what's your budget? Can't recommend parts if there's no budget listed.
 
E6600, GA-965P-DS3, 2GBNQ, 8800GTS 640MB, HX520... just go to newegg.com and search for those exact things... i'm gettin lazy, lol.

Intel's your best buy, overclocked or not, unless you drop into the budget arena (sub $500/$600 gaming machine). And... you'd be a fool to not OC it (or just plain lazy, lol). They have much more headroom for OC'ing than the AMD chips, and they OC with ease, btw.

But hey, if you want to buy AMD, go for it... with their prices so much lower than before, they're not as much of a waste of money as they used to be, lol. Just swap the CPU and Mobo with an AMD X2 6000+ and a board with an nF chipset.
